My sons asked some questions that I did not have an answer for. Why do they play for 3rd? Do the players get any money for playing in the WC? If so how much and is it per game? Anyone know the answer to these? The US doesn't advance in the WC so we never hear about this.

IIRC each country pays their own players as much or little as they want to pay them, much like NFL franchises, not the league pay the players.

Kahn looks silly just being. When he had the Ludwig van Beethoven haircut not-too-long ago, it was hard not to chuckle. He's less silly when he makes amazing saves.

You're right. I hadn't thought about the LvB look. Always thought of him as having the prince valiant look.
Always considered Kahn to be overrated. He's a decent goalie, but not in the same league as Buffon, Cech, Casillas, Ricardo or even Lehman for that matter.
