It is "Drax Beer" from Romania. I've kept the bottle as sort of a joke because the picture of Dracula's bloody mouth on the label is so amusing. I think it's some sort of novelty beer.

I bought a four pack of Drax from Chevy Chase Liquors in Northwest DC (5454 Connecticut Ave, best liquor & beer store in the world) when I was on winter break of my junior year in college. At the time I had a friend who lived upstairs who was actually of Romanian extraction, and we had a good laugh.

As the question will most certainly arise, Chevy Chase is an upscale suburb of DC that has been around for far longer than the actor with the same name. Link

Not pictured: MacBook Pro 2.16. (it's taking the picture that you see)

Graduate housing on a graduate student budget really blows-- but those tables are awesome for spreading out my work and getting shit done.

(Cannondale F500 in background; Alien Quadrilogy on the table.... I never watch the last two in the series)

Mess on my desk: I tried to made fan speed contoller for external drive so it will be as quiet (as quiet as possible) as Mac Mini. And I did it.

Is that a pack of C4 on your desk? That would certainly make an external drived quiet.

I had a 23-inch CD once at work - I used it to watch Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs on DVD. One day soon I am not going to be able to resist the 30" - unless they unveil some hairy-ass 42-inch at rock bottom price as part of their movie/iPod/settop box/monitor presentation on Tuesday.

Who the hell came up with the idea to put cameras on phones anyhow? And if I can have a 2+ Megapixel camera on my phone, why can't I have a decent MP3 player on it too?

Sh*t son, I haven't seen this kind of thread in a couple of years. It used to be all about the whole "show us your setup" thing. BTW, some nice machines here.

The corner segment of my desk, chair removed:

PMG5, original dual 2.0, perched high for heat and noise considerations. On its shelf is a flash memory card reader with a custom aluminum shell, originally for the mac mini.

One shelf down, a couple external dual drive enclosures, one is a backup for the system boot drive, one is a FW800 stripe as a backup for the system's data. A bunch of software and DVDs are shown too.

The monitors are a 21" Compaq flat CRT and a 17" Samsung LCD.

The right mouse is a base model Wacom Graphire, left mouse is a Logitech optical mouse. The one on the tackboard hanging by its own noose is a Mighty Mouse, which is there because it is rubbish.

Another segment of my desk, chair removed.

Basically my second entertainment center, a VCR, Panasonic DVD player and a 27" flat CRT. The black box on the bottom is my reciever for the sound system. The speakers are a couple small Paradigm bookshelf speakers, and an 8" sub, all outside the scope of the picture.
