<strong>Either 10.1.5 and/or Office X SR-1 have major font problems. Macintouch is full of reports about weird display problems with fonts, especially PS fonts, but also regular fonts, if the Quartz Smoothing is turned on. I tend to believe it's Office SR-1's fault, since people report ALL other Carbon apps, with Silk smoothing, don't have the same font spacing problems.

On the 800-MHz model, the slower clock speed is 667 MHz and the L3 cache is turned off as well. On the 667-MHz model, the clock speed is unchanged; only the L3 cache is turned off.

Hope I don't jinx anything by saying this but my 10.1.5 upgrade went fine. It didn't seem to up the speed anywhere, except maybe a few frames in UT or Q3A. No KP's yet.

Reports of networking problems on MacFixIt, and font problems on MacinTouch (Office SR-1's fault, no doubt, though!) continue to pour in. Anyone have any of the problems reported on these sites! They sound terrible! I'm waiting until M$ or Apple fix this. :eek:
I have a G3 Series (PDQ version) PowerBook. I bought it because it has a RageLTPro graphics chip whereas the previous model only had a Rage Plus.
Unfortunately, 101.5 does NOT support RagePro or RageLTPro graphics chips, though <a href="http://www.xlr8yourmac.com"; target="_blank">www.xlr8yourmac.com</a> reports that it is possible to hack into a file so an "appropriate" hardware driver WILL be loaded at startup....
Can't use color corrections in the display calibrator! I just installed 10.1.5 and now when using the display calibrator, it skips the setup, native gamma, and tristimuli values step. Was this done on purpose? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
Well, I did the Office SR-1 and 10.1.5 deal on an iMac that didn't have OS X previously. Just 9.1. Saw no font problems in Office! Didn't check PS fonts though. No problems seen, does feel "snappier!"
Using DHCP from server, no networking or sleep problems either. No monitor resolution problems. Will give this one more glance tomorrow before upgrading my HOME machine
I am not certain how reliable all these reports of update problems are from other users. It seems a lot of users install 3rd party items and run a dirty system, and so their opinions may be unintentionally biased on issues within the updates. Always, I uninstall all 3rd party items and run MacJanitor (or the unix terminal lines for the daily, weekly, and monthly maintence items, themselves), plus a restart and run of fsck -y (hold command-S at start-up and type fsck -y at the prompt..maybe more than once, until it says everything is OK), before installing an update. I have had no problems with any of them so far, personally.
I have experienced problems running AOL and AIM with Silk since the 10.1.5 release, but I am just using Adium, now, until the issues are resolved with Silk. I guess I just love the smoothing too much to sacrifice it for AIM-AOL usage.
Also, I found iTunes to quit after a restart with SIlk installed on my machine if my iPod was attached to it. I just turned off the option to load iTunes with my iPod attached for now.
Everything else seems to be running great for me otherwise. *crosses fingers*
Best of luck to everyone else, though. Try some of the things I mentioned at first to see if your problems are resolved by them, of if doing these things allows you to now install the update.

nope... Although I am sorry you are experiencing such problems. Try uninstalling any third-party items, running fsck -y, running MacJanitor (the daily, weekly, monthly maintence items, and zapping your PRAM.

So no one here uses PostScript fonts? The reader reporters over at MacinTouch have determined that it is indeed all Apple's fault that PostScript fonts turn into garbage. Looks like we can't blame M$ for this one: The same thing happens when Silk is used instead of Word's own quartz smoothing option. Which is just as well, because hopefully Apple will release 10.1.6 soon.
Also, is there a limit to/what is the limit to how many fonts you can have in your Font folder?
And, I put a folder, with many nested folders, with thousands of fonts in it, into my Font folder, but NONE of the fonts were seen. Then, I put the contents of a subfolder directly in the Font folder, and they worked. Does this mean they ALL have to be in the Fonts folder, and I can't have any subfolders? Because that would be pretty f*cking stupid. And, PostScript fonts didn't seem to be "seen" be Word no matter what?

Is or is not the rendering of PostScript Fonts messed up? And is there a font limit? The "Help" in MacOS X is a joke. Utter joke. That's a bug I may have to report to Apple.
Right now I have an uptime of 8 Days, 10 Hours,and 54 Minutes with Mac OS 10.1.5.
I have a Power Mac G4 450DP, 960MB of RAM and an AGP Radeon video card. I have a OWC FireWire drive, a Que 12x10x32x FW CD-RW, a Lexmark Z22 USB printer, and Harman Kardon Soundsticks.
Everything has been running really well. I haven't even felt the need to restart. (In some previous versions of Mac OS X, I would restart as the sound or the network would start to get funky on me...)
Good luck if, and when, you decide to upgrade to 10.1.5.
Oh yeah, I also noticed that my Firewall is now logging again correctly. According to Brian Hill, this broke on dual processor Macs with 10.1.4. It's now fixed. :-)

Can't see any changes, apart from iDisk, which is still a lot slower than Goliath.
Oh well, I never had speed issues anyway (apart from iDisk).
