Why does that suck...I mean its freaking logical. If you don't have a physical address and you need to wait in line for some reason then I wouldn't expect every Apple Store to have pre-reserved inventory for everyone out there...I think that would take way more time then processing a line full of pre approved people. If you have means to receive a package then just order the phone online (free shipping mind you) and get it without ever leaving your house...how does that suck??? It doesn't, its brilliant.
Umm YES I would expect a company taking PRE orders would STOP taking pre orders once they know they could NOT fill any more pre orders. I.E. like AT&T Has done (well they are still taking them but they are telling people they wont get them for another week or 2)
Also I would expect doing a Pre Order that I would not have to be competing with people just walking off the street. Because really then what the HELL is the point of the PRE order.
Now I'm ok with waiting in line, as long as my pre order has guaranteed there will be a phone waiting for me on launch day. Which does not seem to be the case with the fine print
I got a tracking number on my notification email. I did pay for expidited shipping, though if they're all arriving Friday, that's a wasted couple bucks.
To Quote Spongebob Squarepants, I'm ready, I'm ready!
Wonder what all this means? Service Selected not available? Downgraded? Maybe that's because I ordered expedited and all the iPhones are on the same Plane?

Sorry dood I'm in san diego now, and I can more than answer the door myself, sure I could let you, but then I'd have to kill you, or force you to buy a Pre ... (sort of like Kentucky Fried Movie .. TAKE HIM TO DETROIT!)

Woohoo!!! progress!!!
My friend ordered through ATT (I ordered through Apple) and his still hasn't been picked up by UPS yet though the tracking number was posted yesterday and the status is now SHIPPED.
I ordered mine through Apple's website on 6/9 around 7:30AM PST. When I check my order status, it's still "Not yet shipped."
However, my wife ordered one at the AT&T store. Checking her order status, I see it shipped and it even has a UPS tracking number. But, when I check it, the tracking number can't be found! Frustrating!
I ordered right after they made them available on the Apple site on 6/8. The site was really slow but once I got to the ordering part it went along fine. I got the tracking number off the order status site and the shipment confirmation email.

My tracking data shows the same as yours.
If we're reading this right and my other search was correct, it's on UPS flight 63 to Anchorage which is due to arrive at 3PM Alaska time today.
Cool I lived in West Roxbury for a couple years! Ever have this convo:
"I live in West Roxbury"
"..oh you live in Roxbury"
"NO I live in WEST Roxbury" LOL
Many, many times with various taxi drivers. (Including at least one who refused to take me because he refused to believe that it's safe to go to West Roxbury) Of course, that was a good ten years ago; I've since switched to the commuter rail.
Go to http://www.flytecomm.com/cgi-bin/trackflight and enter Anchorage as the destination city. You'll get a list of all flights going into Anchorage today. There's one UPS flight from Hong Kong and it was scheduled to leave HK at the time the tracking data lists for the departure scan.
I pre-ordered mine from AT&T on Tuesday 11:28 pacific and have not received a "Shipped" email yet. Anyone ordered later than me and received a "Shipped" email?
My AT&T order status is still unchanged. "Pending"
Is it just people who ordered directly from Apple that are getting Shipment Notifications?
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. People who ordered days after me are seeing notification of shipment, others, nothing. What gives? Is this a conspiracy just to keep us busy fretting while we wait?

like someone else said, that was a MAJOR killjoy solipsism, especially given that you don't remember !!!
Mine says June 17th. I'm trying not to get overly enthusiastic though...
Does anyone remember if early arrivals (there must have been SOME) could be ACTIVATED before release day last year???
I suppose I am, but I try not make absolute statements unless they can be backed up. Since I am too lazy to check posts from last year for an answer, I?ll have to just qualify it wiht a bit of uncertainty as the infallibility of my memory.
Also, for I can?t be 100% certain, a few people in the US did get their iPhones early, though not en masse, and these were promptly posted on blogs and tech sites as gadget porn unboxing. I don?t care much for that, but would like to see performance differences between the various models and other vendor?s phones.
i had reserved a couple at my local apple store (in socal) last tuesday and when i called wednesday they said they had 654 reservations. That was just in 2 and a half days. so i got scared that i would be able to get one because i cant even make it to the store until 4:30 p.m. So last night i ordered them to be shipped and it says it will arrive by the 19th..does anyone really beleive this will happen

This is part of a strategy to balance the activation load. Phones will arrive early and activation will be live.
The more I think about it, the more that seems likely. There's no way Apple wants the negative press they got last year.
Any one eligible for full discount order a 3G S from both at&t and Apple? a few people on other sites say they did this and have received shipping notices from both apple & at&t

I?m thinking that last year UPS held the packages at their DCs until the delivery date, but I am not certain.
