At 725 posts (this one included) the real question is: can we hit 1000 before the keynote! And is that the fastest thread to 1000 posts ever? Where no thread has gone before.

At this point the only possible thread with as much growth potential will be the post mac-world bitch thread!

edit: this is number 725, WOW threads are growing faster than I can type a post. Then again, i type like crap, let's hope iWalk is real.

Apple Store now has on iMac, iBook and PowerBook a ship time of 7 days. 5 days for the PowerMacs. Perhaps Stevie's gonna announce them to be available at the end of January, so the old ones will ship a little longer. Goes hand in hand with the Crystal Clear Saving Promo.

I just wanna help to get to 1000.

I must say , there aren't much G5 rumors anymore. Although the G4 already can hit 1,4Ghz( if spymac is right). Apple just needs one more boost to get over the 2 GHz within this year.I prefer within 6 months. Thumbs up for Apple, Motoola and IBM with their PPC's

I think between all the users here we've got pretty much all the possibilities covered.

    Someone will get the title...

On MOSR they say about a major improvement for gamers with OS X. That's good ,but why dont they put new gForce3 (or the newer gForce4). At spymac they have a list but in those Powermacs there is only a gForce MX2 with 32mb. That sucks and we al now that.

The iMac will have Radeon, that's a big boost. that's real nice for gamers like me.

He's going to need it if the keynote doesn't live up to the hype.

He's going to need alot to satisfy are needs. he's going to need a 3D card for the gamers and developppers. A +Ghz machine, that gives a good impression for the public. A PDA for some of you and they must all be for a reasonable price also. That's going to be a big challenge for Apple.

Could Apple be going more proprietary with their machines architecture again to make the whole system faster, much like SGI machines are. Chips are still expensive for them, and I dont reckon these massive speed bumps everyone seems to be predicting are going to happen to that extent. Maybe they've removed all system bottle necks, enhanced OSX's Mach kernel to allow developers to access the hardware easier (It is still much easier to do that with mac os9, Hollywood knows!)

I think the speed references in the hints are are more tied into OSX enhancement and overall system design rather than just an overpriced chip straining 1ghz.

If Apple is going to show off 10.2 at the show, they'd better have some really big surprises with it. Speeding up the OS is great, but I doubt the people in SF want to see another Macworld devoted to showing off Mac OS X.

A choice of high speed sister boards as opposed to what they have now, so machines could be customised for specific uses (graphics, video, sound, gaming, server boards)

Actually, thatd be f*****ng expensive, but fast.

    Mmmmn, um... Nope

If this show doesn't live up to Kormac levels of dellusional product launch, It may very well be the first web-cast lynching of a CEO.

I think Stevie is going to show at least 1 (maybe 2) products that are ready to order but shipping in 4-6 weeks (in early-mid Feb.) Could be the G5.

And in the interm bump the PM's to 1Ghz with a possible second DP config (all on the same MB) throw in more free RAM, and probably bigger standard HDDs. It would fall in neatly with the crystal clear promo extension.

it'd be an OK strategy. They can clear out the remaining G4 PM's. People who want the G5 can order it, or those who don't want to wait can pick up nicely loaded G4's with a display. I think it could strike a nice balance between the value shoppers and the gotta have a G5 crowd. And, crucially, buy Apple a good combination of time and positive press.

Perhaps a gigawire cluster function that allows many cpu boxes to work together, hey... if Linux can do it...

I think I'm being a little old fashioned here but it would be excellent for Maya and video editing, rendering

If Apple would introduce a new motherboard with major speed bumps +1GHz and better 3D cards. That will encourage more people to buy it. So the money they put in those gadgets would be earned back by all the new Mac users (Former wintel users). A whole new line of macs with increased performance is actually recommended.

    G5 to the top
