Nonsense aside, what do people actually think of Ping? I haven't gotten around to looking at it yet, as I suspect is true for many of the 160 million iTunes users.
It will succeed or fail depending on how good it is, and how useful. First place to look regarding that is at the service itself, and probably not at the Zune.
Any opinions on Ping out there from people who have actually checked it out?

I don't like it yet. I was hoping it would be more like "I Like" on Facebook.
The biggest problem is the absolute dearth of artists. It seems much to difficult for artists to create a Ping profile, and none of my favorite artists are on the service, and I doubt whether most of my favorite artists ever will be. Why the hell doesn't Apple just automatically add a Ping profile for every artist that has an artist page? They could turn off public comments. And then if a representative of the artist wants to officially join and moderate the page, then they can work through all the arrangements at that time. The way it is now, we're only ever going to see label darlings, which means mostly shit music a la Lady Gaga (ok she's not that shit, but not my cup of tea) and Taylor Swift (clearly shit).
Another serious problem is the requirement to use your real name. I mean WTF? I like to communicate with people. But I also like my privacy. Here, you can either maintain your privacy by turning everything off and never comment, or communicate by turning public access on and making comments and writing reviews. There's no way to do both.
Like the lack of Facebook connect (another minus, as I am an avid Facebook user as are all of my friends) I don't think this is how Steve envisioned it. I doubt he has a friend whose real name is "THOR". I think cutting out anonymity was a last minute cop-out devised to deter spam.
Lastly, you cannot choose to "like" music that's not sold at the iTunes store (though contrary to some people's comments you CAN add music that you didn't BUY on iTunes). You cannot "like" a genre that's not on Apple's official list ("Trance", "Folk" for instance). You cannot set up a playlist or connect an iTunes Essentials list to your Ping page. Even the few artists with Ping pages don't have a button to connect to their Ping page from their main artist page.
It all seems so weak, unfinished, and frustrating. I'll stick to Facebook, thanks. On Facebook, Fleet Foxes provides constant updates including photos and video regarding their upcoming album, and they link to Youtube videos (with the full length audio track) of excellent recommendations that suit my tastes perfectly. I can follow whatever artists I want, and if an obscure artist doesn't have a page, I can set up a community page myself, as a fan. There's nothing that Ping has that Facebook doesn't have except the commercialization of it all. And Ping provides about 5% of the functionality of Facebook, with regards to music tastes.
Maybe next year, Ping will be a decent feature. Right now, it's honestly next to useless.
Yes, we all know now that you didn't read the topic before commenting, like I suspected from the beginning. Thank you for confirming. Wouldn't want to waste your time to post negative comments, would you?
I wasn't commenting on the article, I was commenting on your posting, major difference.

Yes, I understand you're getting more desperate and idiotic with every post you make.
I'm not getting desperate at all, and the only idiotic thing I am doing is replying to your ramblings.

If we are not talking about legal situations, then why did you post a legal reference when I questioned the original of the statement?
After all you did post this, including a link to a legal site...

Legally Deposition can be defined as out of court recorded sworn testimony of a witness before the trial and without a judge for discovery purposes, which can also be used in the court. The witness is put under the oath and both lawyers from each party records the questions and answers. Thus, if the witness is not present during the trial, his deposition can be used for testimony. In a way, deposition can be described as discovery purpose (fact-finding) or part of the pre-trial discovery process. The process of Deposition can be summed up as follows:
The witness sworn in or take an oath to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
The deposition can me recorded before any chancellor, justice, or judge of a supreme or superior court, mayor, or chief magistrate of a city, or judge of a county court or court of common pleas of any of the United States, not being of counsel or attorney to either of the parties, or interested in the event of the cause.
You know, if you want me to keep educating you like this, you're going to have start paying me.
So, if we're not "talking about "legal situations here"", than maybe I should get a credit for these education fees you are trying to get off me, as it is obvious you don't know what you are talking about.
But, let's get back to the new claim you made. I am afraid there is more than two countries that speak English as their native language, for starters, you claim you live in Canda, isn't English an offical language there? So are all your laws and sayings exactly the same as they are in the US, or the UK?
Now I have no problem recognising the truth. The conversation we are having is, Apple got 1 million signins to Ping in the first 48 hours. I have no issue with this "fact", you see it is you that has the issue with facts/truth, for that 1 million only represents 0.6% of the iTunes users. You see this is the truth, but for some reason you want to ignore this truth, and only listen to a subsection of truth.
So who is the actual troll? (since you have problems with reading etc, I will help you here, it is you)
I am afraid there is more than two countries that speak English as their native language, for starters, you claim you live in Canda, isn't English an offical language there? So are all your laws and sayings exactly the same as they are in the US, or the UK?
Your ignorance of the law is no excuse.
No, just because some people in Canada speak English does NOT mean that their laws are "exactly the same".
In comparison to the iPod?which has sold more than 100 million units since its launch in 2001?the Zune has yet to make a dent in the digital music marketplace, with sales of the original 30 GB unit estimated to be near 1.2 milion units. But Microsoft has always said it?s in the portable media player business for the long haul, and the new Zune models and features may (incrementally) win it some fans.
And while Apple is haulin' ass .... MS is still totin' that heavy load ... tell me, are they out of the basement yet with that whole "new social Web site for Zune owners" thingy yet .... no? ... thought so.
So why don't you go and get some .... oh, I forgot your a retired USAF aerospace/structural engineer .... wtf .... I guess they don't make USAF aerospace/structural engineers like they used to.
Awe... How cute, you had to bring out your 'other' AI screen persona in an effort to substantiate all the ridiculously inane claims you've made throughout this thread, since no one else would back you up.
