What "PR"? Absolutely everything Apple has said is: "Wish we could say more." They can't be blamed for ABC's hyperbole.
It's clear Apple's PR machine is working up a media frenzy behind the scenes. And there's nothing wrong with that... so long as they've got something to show that lives up to expectations.
“Historic” pits it against the introduction of the Macintosh, iMac, and iPhone.
And there is absolutely no way it could so much as match any of them.
Just like, according to you, there was absolutely no way they would call the iPhone released in 2012 the "iPhone 5"? I think you speak too often in absolutes.
Eddy Cue seems to think that they can top the initial iPhone announcement. I have my doubts about that too, but since he knows whatever it is he's talking about, and I don't, I'll have to be less absolutely certain than you are.
Tomorrow will be more interesting than the World Series, the Superbowl and the Soccer World cup combined! What's world changing about any of those boring events? Absolutely nothing.
For as far back as I can recall, I don't believe that there's ever been an Apple event that has been more hyped and highly anticipated than this year's event.
Bring it on!
Well said! I hope Apple manage to bring a smile to Steve Jobs's ghostly face today.
The iPhone 6 is a 4K HDTV, watch, redesigned Mac Mini, Haswell Mac Pro, 12.3” iPad, and simultaneously comes in two sizes, using quantum principles to collapse itself into either 4.7” or 5.5” depending on observation!
Steve Jobs' RDF has morphed into the parappledox, the less they say the more berserk the buildup gets. Something that is different from the last new "category" intro, if that's what's happening tomorrow, is Apples audience has grown massively over recent years. The level of interest around the planet in where Apple moves the tech compass next, is, at the very least, "socially" historic regardless of what they actually announce.
parappledox - love it!
You could say that Apple has become a dappleganger! ????
Considering that Disney owns ABC, ESPN, etc. and that Mrs. Jobs is the single largest, non-institutional investor in Disney stalk via the Pixar purchase by Disney - in the name of journalistic disclosure, who's really surprised about their "exclusive."
The word "historic" sounds like hyperbole to me. I can't imagine a tech company (even Apple) announcing anything of historic scale importance. Medical companies could, e.g. cure for cancer. But computer companies? A quantum computer maybe. Or the first AI. But neither of those are going to happen, it will just be a wearable computer.
Maybe in a few years we will all be wearing computers, and look back on this as the start, and that's what they mean by this being an historic announcement.
The hype is now out of control. Calling today's event a historic announcement the only way the stinking media can adds lots of pressure for Apple to deliver something big. They better not disappoint. Looking forward to the event. If Apple gets to do what Steve Jobs did with the first iPhone or even iPad it will indeed be amazing. I sure hope so.
Very bold to use the word "Historic" with a product launch. If this ends up being a pretty watch and nothing more - the the word "historic" and its use by ABC stands to help Youtuber's mock Apple some more with their banned commercials (which are funny) The Apple TV in the from Steve Jobs eluded to in his book could very well be historic.
I just have a problem of using significant words to describe otherwise late to the party devices. I had mentioned this in a previous post, but introducing phones with bigger screens that their competitors have had around for a while is not historic and a watch....... please.... who has a watch anymore? Unless this watch happens to be mind blowing. Which I highly doubt. That TV though - that'd be a game changer. In the end - who cares, the events are always fun and I enjoy them immensely.

3) I'd love for the 'i' names to end.
I think calling it "iWear" would emphasize the wearable nature (obviously) but also be a nice little jab at Google Glass.
Is there not going to be an Apple TV channel for the event this year? I checked just a little while ago…
They’re gonna keep you guys on edge. It’ll only appear if you turn your Apple TV on within five minutes of the keynote start.

Meanies!
If it will be called iWatch, then it is not a watch.
Perhaps a electronic wallet, one that you only need to shake yr hand for it to work/interacts with your surroundings.
That voice over is horrible.
Clear as mud, Mr. Speculator.
Dell-icious.
You don't have to be, but you choose to be.

You mean a historic announcement.
Maybe they'll start using 'u' instead. Hence the U2 rumours. Makes sense, don't uThink?

If you’re thinking that means a television, you’re wrong.
