The part where it says bus speeds up to 1 GHz just seems to good to be true, pushing me into the hoax department. How are they going to pull that one of? Bumpity*bump*bump from 166 MHz to 1 GHz, while their server hardware will, apparently, remain stuck at 266 MHz. It seems a bit too good to be true. If Apple thaught me one thing, I'd have to be the Art of Disappointment.
It actually says "processor bus", not "system bus". The two, in reality, are actually different, as far as I know. Plus, the 970 is widely known to have it's processor bus run half as fast as the processor speed, which would make sense since it's 1 GHz for the 2 GHz dualie PMG5, but also "up to 1 GHz" since the lower-end models will probably have 800 and 900 MHz processor buses instead.
Quite a bit of prevarication lately. Dotting your i's and crossing your t's in quite precise manners so as to make the loopholes larger later isn't very becomming.
El Presidente, you make and distribute good SW and I tip my hat on the very early GPUL call, but your last several days of good old-fashioned mugwummping are making me wonder about whether your sources aren't more IBM & design sided than Apple or production sided.
The only thing I know is we smacked-down my boss's pair in fooseball this afternoon. I think that information is much more solid than what you have, because if you really had current scoop you would at least be consistent.
So here's your opportunity to pick which side of the fence you are on and show the forum I am mistaken.
I think Boy_Analog (page 13) has some interesting things to say as well. That option "b" is just enough to make me a bit anticipative again.
I'll be more excited when PowerBook G5's roll around this Christmas!!
Which one? The plug for my own software, or the one for moki? I've had that quote from moki in my sigs for a long time on all my forum sigs, but I've only just recently registered here. I know it sounds convenient, doesn't it?
I actually used to have three quotes in my sig, but the admin over there at Mac OS X Hints told me to pare down my sig because it was too large (as evidenced by the one still over there on MacRumors). moki's quote was just too good to pass up.
Don't even get me started on PowerBook G5s, or I'll *REALLY* break down.
I'm, of course, VERY happy...but just imagine what this would have felt like in the RDF. People would have *died*
Precisely. Dead Mac users don't buy new Power Macs. Steve knew an all-at-once burst of RDF at this magnitude would have popped the heads of half the existing user base, and wisely decided to dole it out in a couple measured doses. My children are eternally grateful to Mr. Jobs (or would be, if they had any concept of "gigahertz," "system bus" or, indeed, "Macintosh").

LOL, iconmaster. you're right...dead mac users can't buy PowerMacs...though...the line will be long enough already with all the Wintel users begging for a new 970 machine.
Does anyone think if the specs were real then Apple would have sent an e-mail to all the sites that have the specs up now to tell them to take them down?

Umm...yes? The other question is, if the specs were not real, would Apple publicly disavow them? For both legal and marketing reasons I suspect that's also a "yes".
No. Any accuracy in the MacBidouille benchmarks is merely coincidence/luck. They were fabricated. As are the stories about G5 PowerBooks. As are the stories about G5 towers being in production in May.
I'm curious, moki...
Nothing about this strikes me as 'heavy'. Methinks that perhaps what you were expecting next week is still a mystery to us. Would that be correct?
I am starting to think it is a hoax. I vote for nothing this good can come out of Monday. I will be pleased if I am wrong but I am just not getting my hopes up.
But Apple's had almost an entire 24 hours to respond to it. TechTV even had a segment about it tonight. I think this one's either real, or it's not -- and it's fabricated on the positive side (i.e., to just give us a taste and make us want the whole enchilada).
I sure hope these specs are real. Just think, if the prices stay at what they are. A dual 2Ghz mac for only 3700. I'd buy one right away!!. The only bad thing I"m going to be in texas on monday and the whole week. Goign to miss everything. I'm really pissed....

But if it were real wouldn't Apple have tried to prevent the coverage on TechTV?
If you have noticed, all the rumors on ThinkSecret that are real have been pulled due to Apple legal. This story on the other hand has not been pulled.

No denial or rebutal from Apple...
The whole day the only real denouncement was from MacFreak.org... some Dutch site... and not much of one.
The positivity factor has just risen to, I'd say, 95%
Keep your hands and arms on the desk at all times!!
