Doubtful. My guess is that Apple is waiting for a lull in the news: no more storm stuff, etc.

I clearly remember the quicksilver powermacs updates to 1ghz DP. Were posted after 10am PST. I know because I checked before I went to work @9:30pst. and then checked at 10:30pst and they were "updating" this was 2 years ago though... might be a little off on the times but it was after 10am PST for sure.

Damn those bichos in Cupertino! Maybe we'll get that high-res tablet that macwhispers is talking about. All the recent OEM info seems to point to a "tablet like no other". Read the "Five products we may see from Apple-Part Two" <a href="http://www.envestco2.com/macwhispers/archives/000030.php"; target="_blank">here</a>.

Apple has said and continues to say that they are innovating to keep ahead of the industry and slumping economy, they would not hold back a product release because of some other company's news. Apple would in fact do the opposite and try to compete with that product or news.

Competition is done by releasing a product immediately after its completion.

If the capacities are 10, 20, and 40 gigs, then Apple can launch a very attractive ad campaign:

"The same money gets you twice the music". That would point out a very important point, and would convince potential buyers that they are getting an awesome deal, because they are, after all.

I'm thinking of getting an IPOD with my income tax return However i think 10gig would be more than enough for me. One question I have tho is can you set it up to store files like a firewire drive AND play music off of it at the same time?

    Yes.

Not really. You can play music off it through iTunes while it's hooked up as a firewire disk, but you can't listen to music through the headphone jack on the 'pod itself while it's connected to your computer. Again, you can listen to music while it's hooked up, but it needs to be through your computer's audio out, not through the 'pod's.

Might as well just listen to your iTunes library, eh?
