LOL, geez Barvow, I think you probably have that about right. Keep in mind though that there's not much to do in Alaska besides track bear, so the FDA probably had one look at our iMacs glistening white bottoms and thought... hrmm... gee... break out the latex gloves and vaseline boys, we're gonna have us some FUN!

Appologies in advance to anyone who finds that sort of humour offensive, or who just find's me offensive, or who is just offended in general, for any reason.

Actually, there's a mole for Microsoft at the FDA in Alaska. When he saw the palettes full of the new imacs being unloaded off the plane he immediately called up MS Prez Balmer and got the word to wreck havoic on Apple.

Congratulations, gelding! Let us know what you think about it. Right now that's all the rest of us have. I don't really know why I'm getting so worked up about my iMac. It's really for my wife, but she doesn't get into acting all irrational and paralyzed until the FedEx truck pulls up outside, so SOMEBODY has to do it!

hey g, you mean you haven't used waiting for your iMac as an excuse to stay home from work EVER SINCE you ordered on the 7th? I have.... I have a really bad case of the plague insofar as anyone at my workplace knows....

so your in New Mexico too?? when i first moved out here i found out that the plague is still somewhat common out here (several cats and dogs and a few humans infected each year)...i was quite surprised...it was like, "dang, did i move back to the middle ages"...

personally i like to use a real embarrassing excuse so it is never really questioned or talked about much (at least to my face)...something like, "can't make it in today because i'm having a horrible flare up of genital warts that are playing havoc with my staph-infected hemmorrhoids. i would still come into work, but the treatment is to squat in an ice bath and smack my genitals repeatedly with a rubber mallet." believe you me, no one will question you needing the time off, and no one will ask you to hurry back to work....the usual responce is "take your time coming back....make sure your completely better...don't rush...." or something like that....

    Now the name makes sense.

animus...I just figured out that it's no mistake that Plane B is stuck in Alaska. Tomorrow Steve Jobs announces that Apple has been chosen to help upgrade the US Customs in Alaska with hundreds of new iMacs, which just happen to be sitting on a plane outside...

With the short daylight hours in Alaska perhaps the iMacs were thought to be a new high density lamp and they decided to keep them to help light the airport.

actually the name is from an unfortunate hedge clipper accident...nawwww, just like to change the story everytime....was just a goofy nickname i gave myself after my vasectomy....my wife has a bumper sticker that sez, "If you love your Husband, have him neutered"....but perhaps this is all too much info (trying to think of how it fits into "current hardware"....perhaps they should make an "old, useless hardware" forum)....g

MacsRGood, Barvow, Gelding, LOL you guys. You're definatelly making The Wait alot more tollerable down here in Southern California.

And G, I've had a variety of unlikely, time away from work absorbing illness, including Hanta Virus, Rabies, and Ebola. What can I say, bad luck.....

One more thing Gelding, I always just assumed your wife made you offer up your manhood as a pledge and insurance of your undying devotion to her. I never guessed she'd advertise that fact on a bumper sticker, tho!

alright, get this... my ibrother in law (who has NEVER owned a mac in his life) just picked his up - he was the first person on the pre-order list at the glendale apple store... he is glowing... apparently, they were parading him around the store, took his picture, and some japanise guy from a magazine in japan took his picture too, and tried to buy it off him at 200 over list price... too funny. I swear, I have gotton so many people to buy macs, I should be vice president of sales... he is extatic. he has caught the relegion in a big way... I'm on my way over to his place so that I can install sw (secretly, the dev tools, so I can do my work at his place...), see you guys.....

hey, is my bro the first on this list?

okay, catching up here.... couldn't get on the boards over the weekend....boy was I behind.....Mine Shipped on Friday.....I will soon join in Gelding's iMac club. btw....sweeeeet set up. I'll post mine up too. can't wait. I even went and bought a game today for it (Alice). It seemed twisted enough. I was really looking for Civilizations III but couldn't find it at our local compUSA. They got their iMacs in on Saturday...and were sold out (even demo) the same day.
