Ah, iTunes gets me 31fps in full screen mode visuals. On my old G4 I got 14fps.
Any other LCD owners out there? When I click into full screen mode in iTunes, the monitor freaks out for a second before it turns full screen. Anyone else experince that? Maybe a GeForce4MX thing if no one else has seen that before.
that cina display is gorgeous, just got my first chance to check one out on sunday at a compUSA, my girlfriend and i were spellbound, beautifull setup, it was yours exactly err... except dual 800's not 1ghz- and i was impressed by their speeeeeeeeeed
btw this is the only compUSA that i've ever been impressed by their mac setup. they had every mp3 player on the market... something like 20 in a pyramid, with the iPod on top! it was loaded with music, led zeppelin, radiohead, rage, beatles, etc. and they had routed it through the stores sound system! you could pick it up and scroll through the songs and hear this awesome sound fill the store... all in all i was very impressed by all the mac products i'd never got to touch... where art thou apple store?

Nono, go Apple System profiler/Memory Overview/Built-in memory. What does it say under "Memory type"?
I ordered three (hard-to-find) 512M CL2 (222) sticks for my new dualie, even though Apple (or CL3) would have been cheaper. I highly suspect they're CL3, probably 322, but maybe 333.
Alex, who's waiting for his dual 1GHz along with a *second* Cinema Display.

Congrats on the new G4 !! The fan on my Quicksilver 733 os really loud. I was wondering, how loud is your new dual gb machine ?

probably louder since the fan on my G4 400 sounds like a freight train

You can hear it, but I don't think I would say it's loud. I don't think it's much louder then my old G4. Acutally, seems about the same and I didn't even notice the fan until you asked.
damn! I want to see those pictures but for some reason my schools proxy is blocking them(must be something in the URL, our network admin is pretty stupid)
could you maybe just post a few of them on the UBB?
How the hell did you get it so quick?? They just came out this morrning?? But great Computer man!! that is the ultimant set up. one could not ask for more!
Here are the final pics after I got everything transfered and cleaned up. X is actually kinda growing on me now. LOL, I used to complain about it's speed, not anymore. I can only imagine how much faster it will get.

Add another to the list of 1 GHz dualie buyers. I ordered mine today and it should be here sometime this week. I didn't take advantage of the screensavers promo though. $700 is too much to spend on an Apple 17 inch ASD...It did tempt me though.
My frankenstein beige G3's HDD b0rked itself hard today...that only made the prospect of purchasing a new computer that much tastier...
Please could you tell me what FPS rating you get in Quake 3 Arena? I'm interested to know how well it performs on a Cinema display running at it's native resolution (1600 x 1024) at 32bit colour with all settings at maximum.
If you're unsure how to set Q3 to 1600 x 1024 then let me know.
Ah, you ruined the whole look with that Microsoft mouse attached to it!
Oh, and nice setup by the way.
I wish I could swing a Cinema. Best I could do is a 17" and that will probably be latter this year. Still, would not be too shabby. It will probably be a bit cheaper by then as well.
The 17inch display is gorgeous, both in design and to look at. Can anyone tell me if the cinema display is as bright ? I'm ordering my dual ghz tommorow and i'm probably going to spring for a cinema display after seeing kidred's.
The 22" Apple Cinema Display is absolutely unbelievable. If you have any concerns about buying one, then you should really try to see one in person -CompUSA, Apple Stores or somewhere.
The moment you see it, you will realize you would pay 10x as much for such a gorgeous piece of technology.
This article (written several years ago) really says it all about the Cinema Display. I recommend you read it. What it says is as true today as when it was written.

Congrats brotha!!
Mine has been dark since December waiting for a dualie. Hopefully she'll be back in action by the end of the week!
