The reviewer mixes the recording & playback features confusingly. To my knowledge, binaural recordings are plain old two-channel stereo recordings but with the mics placed to mimic a human head. I don't see why any app would not be able to deal…

I like VS Code, too. But I haven’t used BBEdit. I tend to edit various formats - markdown, XML, JSON, PlantUML, and on and on. VS Code has a large developer community with lots of plugins available.

Figures. I just got a new MBP at work a couple weeks ago. Clearly I am on the wrong update cycle.

I have a 2017 13" MBP that my daughter uses for school. One day one of the keys started acting flakey. A lot of tapping & blowing & fretting got it working again, but the tiniest bit of detritus cripples these new keyboards. They are not rob…

After pushing the price down leading up to the earnings report, analysts now pumping AAPL so they and their clients can sell. The game is rigged. Learn to play along. I bought a few shares at $165ish. Wish I'd been able to buy more.

I think this goes to Intel being perceived as a parts supplier rather than a consumer device producer. They do the research and proof of concept devices, then get some consumer brand to turn it into a product people will buy.

If you want some more fine-grained control of your sound, I recommend Boom. I don't use all its fancy "enhancement" features, but I have created EQ curves for different earbuds, headphones, & speakers.

I can't say I'm excited about Apple becoming a content company as well as a hardware, software, & services company. I'd rather Tim Cook and the other executives be concerned about Mac OS & making sure software updates get proper testing befo…

iOS gaming is to console & PC gaming as the HomePod is to a dedicated home theater system. On raw numbers, I expect far more people play games on iOS devices than consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if there is more money being made in iOS games …

Why? CA real estate is crazy expensive. The cost of housing in CA in insane. There have been several stories about people leaving CA for cheaper & better places to live (I knew people who did it way back in the 80s). In this age of Slack, Skype,…

I'm too lazy too look up the Facebook Terms of Service/User Agreement at the moment. But don't most of these things say anything you put on the platform becomes the property of the service provider and they can do whatever the heck they want with it…

I hope some competitors make ads mocking this ASAP. They deserve all the mocking they get for this.

Why? Apple provides earbuds with the phones which have reasonable functionality with minimal cost. The AirPods mimic the aesthetic of the earbuds so it makes sense to have them Apple branded. Beats is there for any other headphone. I see zero value…

The Sonos One, on the other hand, only has one mid-range woofer and one tweeter, so the woofer has to take care of all of the low to mid-range frequencies at the same time, which can cause the sound to become muffled and blended together Please…
