A few first impressions: - I registered for the 30 day trial. After re-opening the app, it says I only have 2 days left... wtf? - The new icon and splash screen look incredibly boring! - Overall feels really snappy on my 2GHz Core Duo MacBo…

This made me think of something. What if instead of a watch with buttons on it, Nike instead made a glove with the buttons on the palm side? The watch still requires you to upset your arm motion and use both arms while running, but a glove would …

How about a black Mac mini? Lately, Apple has been using a black scheme to differentiate a more equipped, top-end product compared to the rest in its lineup (MacBook, iPod nano...). So why not introduce a black Mac mini extend this idea? $499 Mac…

Ok, this article is a pile and it's easy for us to sit here and laugh at it. Logical fallacies galore. But it's really not about the students finding PCs easier to use, it's about the IT dept. finding Macs more difficult to support. Like it or no…

These people are idiots. Quote: With new Macs running the same processor that powers Windows-based machines, far more people will know how to exploit weaknesses in Apple machines than in the past, when they ran on the PowerPC chips made by IBM C…

It would be nice if Apple (or someone else) made a Photoshop-like app that was built on Cocoa and leveraged Core Image. Why aren't any other major developers utilizing Core Image and Core Video? It seems like Apple is the only one that's using their…

ARD management with Directory Services (AD, OD, etc.) has been broken since 10.4.0. (Works great in 10.3.9). ARD 2.2 has always seemed like a quirky, buggy app. Why do installs just randomly fail 75% of the time when I try to push a package? Why do …

Quote: Originally posted by TenoBell Daring Fireball seems to insist permission repair is unnecessary during system updates. I read that too, and I disagree with him. I've worked with and managed tons of Macs, and I can think of numerous time…

XCode, X-Code, xCode, XCODE... sheesh people, it's just "Xcode". 8)

I remember when Apple was first talking about Spotlight, they made it clear that they were not going to do it like Windows Vista: a web AND local search tool. They were adamant that Spotlight would be for local volumes only, and I'm glad.

I am confused why Safari is wanting to use keychain "a". Usually Safari as well as most other apps use keychain "login". Have you setup a separate keychain for Safari or something?

It seems to crash Safari and QuickTime Player with every WMV I play (Safari 2.0.3, Quicktime 7.0.4). It also doesn't seem very well integrated with QuickTime... I have to select "WMV Player" from the Open With menu, instead of just "QuickTime Player…

The line through the date on the Calendar widget seems pointless. I'm assuming it's there to "flip" to the next day when the date changes, but who's really going to be looking at their widget when that happens?

Why did they change the Calendar widget? I liked the old one better.

Does anyone know if iPhoto has non-destructive photo editing like Aperture?
