  • Apple Maps paid search ads under consideration in monetization push

I'm amazed anyone uses Apple Maps. Nine times out of ten when I use it, it takes me to the wrong destination. Google Maps, Waze and TomTom are fast more reliable. IMO.
Four comments? I've found that in rural areas google maps has a difficult time locating proper addresses. That said, some areas are so messed up that driving directions are dangerous. The Twin Cities, MN, area are a perfect example. Some of this is because the crazy freeway designers had to have been on acid designing the mess of onramps, off-ramps and changing freeways (onramp to different freeway having to cross four lanes within an 1/8 of a mile. All mapping software seems to either tell you too early or too late where to go.

  • Apple makes first change to Pixelmator Pro with a new splash screen

Is there word on how this purchase by Apple affects those of us who previously purchased Pixelmator(Pro?)?
Those that bought Pixelmator own the software. We don't pay a subscription so there's nothing to really worry about where money is concerned. At least not yet. I assume you/we could simply not upgrade Pixelmator Pro if we don't want to. It will still work.

As for future upgrades to Apple Pixelmator, our only hope is that Apple will continue to grow this app instead of killing it. Yes, it might change its name or be incorporated into a Photos Pro app but until Apple actually changes something other than the splash screen, there's no real reason to worry about anything. Just continue to use Pixelmator, the best photo app on the App Store (sorry Adobe, you're crazy expensive subscription model is not worth it).

  • DeepSeek's iOS app sends unencrypted data to Chinese servers

So why did the Apple App Store allow unencrypted data to be sent? They should have been able to discover this during testing.

  • Apple may be considering a restart of advertising on X

At this point, I think Apple would be better served to not advertise on X but should start advertising on Bluesky. I don't use either so maybe Apple already is using Bluesky but at this point, doing anything on X or to support Musk in my opinion is not beneficial to Apple's bottom line.

  • Judge hints Apple may face more antitrust controls in Germany

Ok Germany, where's your computer devices that are used worldwide? Oh, can't actually make any that people want to use? Quit complaining about Apple's success and try and compete instead of trying to make money by fining an American company.
