  • Apple to open office in Vancouver's new 400 West Georgia tower

Not sure how old Apple Maps is for this area of Vancouver, BC, but there's no new building going on at this address unless that address is a general location. It's in the heart of the Vancouver business district, near BC Place (CFL, MLS, rugby) and where the cruise ships sail to Alaska.

  • Israeli spyware claims to beat Apple's iCloud security

So, Israel admits spying on Americans.   What are the chances Trump will do anything about it?
You may not know this but Israel has been spying on the US for years. Just like every other country and we do the same thing. This is common knowledge. It used to be any contact with Israeli citizens or businesses required me to contact our security personnel. They were one of the many countries on the list. I assume they still are but that doesn't keep any of our government from dealing with them any time they want to without any ramifications. It's like dealing with Russia and North Korea. They do it until someone in power stops them.

  • Facebook reportedly fined $5B over Cambridge Analytica fiasco

I'm trying to figure out why Democrats objected to the fine and/or amount. From what I remember about this fiasco, it was pretty clear cut what Facebook did and the way they abused all sorts of things. I'd like to know why each political party felt the way they did.

  • U.S. to investigate planned French tax on Apple, other tech giants [u]

Problem is, as it always is, the consumers end up footing the bill, not the companies. The companies, including Apple, will simply raise their prices to cover the tax/tariff, whatever you want to call it. Apple may lose a few sales over this but they won't lose any money. We the consumer always ends up paying for these little fights between countries.

As we've all said before, Apple pays the taxes it's required to pay. They can't help the fact that EU countries sometimes don't want to go along with the EU board. For those in the EU, which countries end up with all the extra money? I doubt it's split fairly.

  • Cellebrite says it can pull data from any iOS device ever made

Time for Apple to buy one and reverse engineer it. When I worked for the DOE Israel was on the restricted contact list exactly for this reason, attacking American products.
