  • US will not tolerate EU fine against Apple, says White House

Even though i do not agree with all that EU does when it comes to the DMA, Trump is, as usual, wrong!

Trump won’t be able to help because he does not understand and even more frightening his minions don’t either, in fact the politicians in Washington don’t understand either. Apple over the last 25 years since Steve Jobs came back to Apple didn’t go crying to government like Spotify and others to help them be competitive, almost every major development in the last 25 years Apple has made they pretty much had to build from the ground up with the occasional small acquisition (none were over three billion dollars) to support an existing on going project in house.

The European Union is making a mistake by not attempting to establish an environment conducive to company growth, akin to the early Silicon Valley. This region boasts nearby schools, research labs, infrastructure, and a relatively open society in California, which contribute to its success. However, dictating competition is not a sustainable strategy in the long run.

  • Senator Warren asks if Apple CEO Tim Cook's Trump playbook is blatant corruption

It’s clearly extortion. If the Democrats are unhappy with Apple doing what it takes to keep from getting wiped out by the spray tanned dementia patient. Maybe they should have tried actually governing during Biden’s term?

the Democrats are mad that America is burning down but they were happy to roast marshmallows on the walls during Biden’s term. The Republicans are clearly the worse of the two parties. But America had no political parties that haven’t completely normalized corruption. Heck Biden’s team was all gung-ho on crypto. Something that’s terrible for the environment objectively worthless, and which serves to make it easier to commit financial crimes.
Everything you said is wrong.  Google Biden and crypto.  They regulated it and prevented risky and fraudulent activities with it.  Trump got rid of all that.  It's pretty well known.  Google is your friend.
The current Democrats at the top are interested in just getting along most do not want to really fight see Chuck Schumer for an example of a current Democrat at the top just wants to get along like General George B. McClellan……

Companies must comply with the regulations of the regions in which they operate—no exceptions. Failure to do so results in penalties. In fact, US tariffs have cost Apple significantly more than all the fines the EU has imposed combined.

To take the wording of the previous post that would make the US more evil, and Trump more wrong. With that reasoning one could wish biblical judgment on the US. But that’s not the US. It’s just Trump&friends.

Another ridiculous action by the EU, I do not expect the Dutch company ASML for example or any company in the United States or anywhere for that matter, be required to give up share their research and development for free because some government somewhere says you should for made up competitive reasons, Apple, ASML got where they did through hard work research and development over time.

They did not stop anyone else outside their company from pursuing the same results and the same applies to any company that does the actual research and development, it’s not about tariff escalation you have just given the Bumpkins in the White House, the idea that they can do the same thing in reverse to other companies outside the United States require them to share whatever have of value at a whim.
The US federal government forced AT&T to provide its patents (including for the transistor) for free to other US companies.

So it would be OK for the current White House occupant to say ASML should give up all of their research and development for competitive reasons. Some poor American company Intel (Spotify) needs in because they have problems keeping up with ASML (Apple)?

Just look at the situation of Perrier over the last few months.

So this is ironic Perrier water is basically the same as the water in ASML Holland, which happens to be downstream of everybody in Europe,… So does that mean Dutch bottled water can now be competitive to mountain spring water from the Alps?

At the end companies being clearinghouses the fine will be added to a line item in a company ledger “labeled” paid/charged to the EU (Europe). Which in many ways is similar to the tariffs (Federal sales tax) the country targeted (China/company) doesn’t pay it’s the citizens on the other end who pay.
