  • Trump gives Apple a giant break with wide-ranging tariff exemptions

Big congrats to Tim Cook for his quiet and thorough diplomacy. All the Cook naysayers should hang their heads in shame.
There is a reason Tim Cook (Apple) and Foxconn get things done they don’t make a scene, they don’t get loud, scream, or use bluster. They keep their nose to the grindstone, they also seem to realize that when you make any deals with the Chinese, South Koreans, Vietnamese, Indian, even the Japanese, that is just the first step in the process you have to follow through and constantly watch and inspect every aspect of the supply line and the manufacturing process your job isn’t done because you signed a contract in reality your job only just started, that type of long range planning certainly isn’t common currently in Washington DC.

Parent article (a federal sales tax tariff policy that isn’t very fair to the average American consumer and to most small businesses that are not connected to the top 1%).

... certainly no one in their right mind four weeks ago would have believed, that the man in the White House would be as stupid as he’s proven to be. ...
I feel comfortable that I'm in my right mind and four weeks, four months, four years ago, and even further back, I knew that this man was as stupid as he's proven to be. In fact, he's probably even more stupid than he's "proven to be." Donald Trump is profoundly stupid. As a con man, he's proven to be an idiot savant, but, first and foremost, he's always been an idiot.
How can a successful con-man be an idiot? If a con-man is an idiot, he cannot succeed even at a basic level, forget about becoming the President of the wealthiest country in the world. May be, there is something else going on behind the scenes as someone else alluded to in this forum - Stock market manipulation at a large scale to get him and few of his friends super-rich in a short period of time. It is a conspiracy theory, but nothing else makes sense to intrepret what is going on.

Was Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Putin, Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, and Assad idiots? Depends on how you defined it all were mass murderers, and most ended up being killed in the end, all were corrupt, all were definitely evil, having a temporary advantage and using it to hurt people doesn’t make you smart.

  • Apple stock finally claws back some losses following mixed Trump tariff message

Don’t disagree with anything that was said on that webpage however, I think we’re in new territory what happens when one country out of the blue decides it’s going to take on all of the other economies of the world alone by itself? With the added cherry on top of stabbing two very friendly trading partners just to the north and just to the south, one country supplies, you with oil and gas at a significant discount under the world market price, and the other supplies, you with a significant amount of the food you need to eat along with large amounts of industrial support cross several industries, note, that also applies to your northern partner too.

The rest of the world will trade around the United States. They pretty much trade around Russia currently, and Russia is not getting stronger with their fiasco/war with the Ukraine which they started, in fact they are getting weaker.

Well, the US is not the only market for Apple to sell their products.

Win-win for all the other countries outside the United States Apple along with many other American companies will need to be more cooperative overseas…. The dumbest man in the White House has make sure that.

Wow Lutnick and Bessent with Trump are the ultimate Trifecta of morons. “Millions screwing into these little holes is coming here”…I mean I just can’t. Where do these people come from? How could they possibly be so ignorant? I agree I think big tech will raise prices and just wait out his term or midterms democratic landslide in a year and half.
The real problem is the world wide rage and resentment directed at America and its companies… Apple included. Canada, Denmark, Germany and people in Uk talking about boycotting American goods and services..

The other countries are gearing up to work around the United States of America. This spectacle perpetrated by Trump will hurt the United States big time over the long run. In the early stages, the American consumer won’t feel the full brunt but as time goes on, they will.
