  • Apple stock hammered for third consecutive market day, falls on news of more tariffs

Now he's complaining about non-tariff barriers which, IMO, is total overreach.

"... his qualms with “non-monetary tariffs” regarding the EU, but he was less vague than Bessent, suggesting that EU standards, rules and regulations were “non-monetary barriers” for US companies trying to trade with the bloc.

“It’s not only tariffs, it’s non-monetary tariffs. It’s tariffs where they put things on that make it impossible for you to sell a car. It’s not a money thing. They make it so difficult – the standards and the tests,” Trump said.

He wants the EU to lower protections of its citizens so that the US can have unfettered access.

It's not as if the US doesn't also have tests and regulations before allowing access to its market.

I hope the EU pushes back against all this.
The EU should respond like Canada has responded and they should not back peddle, when the liar, lies some more. In short forget about trusting him on anything move forward without Trump/America until he’s gone there is no coherent adult in the White House at this time and that includes his merry band of yes men/women advisors who are in some cases worse than he is absolutely incredible, however the EU politicians are still as clueless about tech, the only consistency in the world (Governments) seems to be Taiwan, China, Singapore, South Korea, Holland and Japan when it comes to tech (do no harm to yourself).

We’ll see if Apple goes forward with their announced $500B investment to build data centres. Big corps are shutting their investment wallets due to all the volatility caused by the orange orangutang.
Most companies including are going to hold back, you don’t spend $500 billion dollars in Trumps world of uncertainty.

I still can’t believe people voted for this moron. It’s sad to see the pathetic joke this once great country has become.
So what do you want to do w the $36T debt? This guy has the balls to do something about it. We been ripped off for a long time. Americans are just buying & consuming cheap imports. Just look at your closets, your house, probably 99% are all imported by greedy importers. TEMU anyone?? Probably 90% are not utilized.

How is that Americans being ripped off? Nobody held a gun to your collective heads and said buy our cheap stuff or else. If anything it’s been Americans literally holding guns to the heads of others during your military adventures that have taken place practically non stop since WW2 ended.

What’s ironic is that Donald Trump had his opportunity to serve his country Vietnam era, like a true hero John McCain, but Donald and his daddy thought being in the military was for suckers. note the biggest disconnect is the number of people in the military who support him.

Hopefully for a full disclosure to the American consumer, a line item will be shown on all receipts indicating the cost of this new federal sales tax (Tariff) in black and white, all American consumers need to see it in writing as a public service because half the country seems to be confused about what a tariff really is…..

I think most of the car dealers/retailers will show that line item because a car is such a big ticket item, The dealer that I bought my current car from sent me a proactive email (surprise) a day after Trump announced all this nonsense, indicating that they would try to let everyone know what the effects will be towards their pricing in the future. (I think they’re gonna show it as a line item on the bill) which I hope everyone (retailers) will do no matter how large or small the new federal sales tax is on the item purchased.

  • Apple stock bloodbath continues after China applies retaliatory tariffs

lwr32 said: Tax cuts mean more money in our pockets to spend, which in turn means more sales tax we’re paying. Where does the sales tax go?
Tax cuts are a statistically weak form of stimulus. The CBO has decades of statistics on that. Every dollar that is dedicated to the cut will only result in a percentage of a dollar spent back into the economy due to people saving part of the cut. The percentage that is spent into the economy and not saved gets a lot smaller when the cut goes to people who are wealthy or corporations.

Direct spending programs are statistically much stronger in terms of stimulus. Every dollar dedicated to direct spending WILL be spent into the economy. Things like infrastructure and federal jobs typically return more than one dollar of economic stimulus. People like to talk about China all the time...well, China focused on direct spending and not tax cuts. That's how they built their economy. They constantly plowed money into infrastructure over the last few decades and look where it got them.

The Chinese are currently working on abandoned research from Oak Ridge, Tennessee the USA is going to severely regret, not developing that research which the Chinese are using to build even more useful infrastructure.
