    My 13 mini is still going strong but one day it will break and I sure don’t want anything bigger than this. Nor do I look forward to folding phones, whatever great breakthroughs are being made.  I just don’t care. For me the mini is the sweet spot. I’d actually like it to be even smaller, like the 5S.
     
    Ah well, it never hurts to keep dreaming, even if it’s in vain.
    No one buys (enough of) the smaller iPhones, or the cheaper iPhones many people keep asking for them and from time to time over the years Apple will offer something and it doesn’t sell not even a little bit….. Apple folding phones when Apple finally gets around to offering one will suffer the same fate, particularly when the bend, fold, crease problem can’t be solved, In short it doesn’t hold up for six or seven years of continuous use/abuse.

    I don’t see how Apple or Google or anyone else at the private company level can be held liable for the F up at the governmental Executive branch, Congress or the Justice department, I thought they were there to provide stability, leadership, and brains, the same applies to the court system where all of this mess is going to eventually end up at anyway, I guess that planning or thinking ahead is too much hope for in modern America at the executive/congressional level…..

    I’m perplexed over the years many people have advocated. Apple should buy every big content company that comes up for sale despite the fact that the batting average for TV shows and movies is one out of six one out of seven? The same advocacy has also been extended to Apple buying every failing large size content gaming companies over the years too.

    Financing one movie or TV show is better than buying a failing Movie/TV studio let Microsoft or Google continue to do the big boondoggle acquisition honors…..

    Apple is supposedly losing billions of dollars, buying Netflix or Movie/TV company and doing the Blizzard games dance like Microsoft isn’t gonna make Apple more profitable, buying a content company is a waste of money because all the talent goes away once the game or the movie is done you are effect doubling your losses,….

    Apple probably did it the best way you can starting from the ground up, the problem with that it takes a lot of time and even at the end of it you still are not gonna have the results you want particularly from a company like Apple, that expects large margins, but the way they did it was probably as good as it’s gonna get, for every movie or TV show you make there are probably five or six bad ones not even Apple can change those odds, which are about the same in the AAA gaming industry. Note the book and the record industries also have about the same odds.

  • What to expect from the M5 MacBook Pro, and when to expect it

    M5 will still be 3nm I believe. 

    Really curious to see how the 2nm m6 stacks up to the m4 and m5 generation. 

    Still pretty bummed about m3 ultra instead of current gen - especially in terms of GPU performance. Pretty lame decision. I thought the m3 chips were produced on a more expensive, less reliable version of the 3nm process. 

    The GPU performance isn’t as good as maybe it could be however it is far from being bad, not in comparison to the actual numbers they are actually very good and the true measure of the M3 ultra will be solidified when more AI benchmarks are released from more reviewers.

    There is a bright future for Apple Silicon take a look at this link, the ultra M3 Mac Studio debuted at number 12 on the blender benchmark test 40 positions higher than the ultra M2 Mac Studio released one generation ago.

    What this chart can’t show is the fact that the energy efficiency of the Apple Silicon chips are second to none at this time, most of the chips (Nvidia) featured on this list require 1000 watts or more, the Apple Silicon chips require less than 140 watts for everything CPU/SOC and GPU…. in comparison to their competition Apple has a huge amount of legroom to upgrade/expand their performance.

    Apple is in striking distance of the top in one or two generations with M5 or M6. (The size of the memory and the bandwidth possible is going to be outrageous and the outrage from the competition will be priceless. (I would also say that Apple Silicon can run most of the modern games very well however it’s just not supported because the AAA game companies think the Mac market is too small to bother but the capability is there).
