Apple designs an engineers, both hardware and software in house. They have always been able to do more with less tech bureaucracy hanging about particularly with the introduction of the M1 Mac’s with Apple Silicon an advantage which will continue into to the future…..

It will be the cheapest iPhone you can buy however, the total sales will be less than all of the high end phones Apple sales, most people buying an iPhone go for the higher end models, but that doesn’t stop the marketshare believer’s, who over the years have never stopped, saying Apple should go for overall marketshare by selling cheap phones, the MBAs, Accountants, business schools of the world along with the Wall Street analysts are united in this area.

Whatever fight there is, will be tied up in the court system by individuals and private advocate groups, it was the same for the civil rights movement and the union movements in the USA, waiting for your local or federal government representative to fight vigorously is usually a lost cause, because most will only jump on board when the winds blow favorably for them.

I am not sure how much business Apple does with the federal government, but that would likely be a very good reason for Apple to significantly curtail if not eliminate DEI which in my opinion is a good thing. 

Aside from a few research laboratories Apple does not sell that many to local, state and federal agencies most are locked into Wintel computers by IT mandates… it’s only at a few high-end, private schools and at the college level that you start to see Apple computers sell in any significant number. At the governmental level across the land not so much.

Apple (Tim Cook) is just navigating choppy waters, the EU, China, Indonesia, UK, India, Russia, Australia, Brazil, and South Korea in the past provided most of those choppy waters, unfortunately the USA is moving up that list.
