They (TSMC) do not pay the tax. The American company that imports the product pays the tax, and and they usually pass that increase on to the consumer, resulting in higher prices.
TSMC makes the same amount of money per chip no matter what.

"Since New York State won’t let you use Apple Wallet for your ID, I still need to carry my physical wallet around, so not having Apple Pay at any particular store or chain is no big deal for me. That said, just about everywhere I go accepts Apple Pay now." I have an Apple Wallet attached to my phone with my DL and my physical Apple Card for locations don't accept tap-to-pay. Prefer the Apple Card here because it doesn't show a visible card number that can be written down or photographed.
