  • MI5 head wants 'exceptional access' to encrypted communications

Unfortunately, 22july2013, you're requesting debate in an area where logic defines most of the responses.

It is not possible to allow any government, or any entity, with a backdoor while maintaining integrity.

  • Why Apple will move Macs to ARM, and what consumers get

The point many keep forgetting is BitCode. There should be a large number of applications ready on day 1 in the App Store for Arm Mac's.

  • Apple Watch helps save the life of teen athlete in Oklahoma

My Apple Watch has alerted my emergency contacts after a bad fall and let me call 911 after another medical event when I couldn’t get to my phone and I was home alone. As someone who lives alone, I say “if you love someone,, be sure they wear an Apple Watch.”

Old or young, it provides a useful safety net. As they add more features, I think it becomes essential.

  • Mac malware outpaced Windows PCs threats for first time in 2019, report says

I wonder what infection rate would be if all Mac software had to be installed through the App Store...
That's precisely why the default is/should be ONLY Mac App Store and Notarized Apps can be installed. If you bypass it, you're accepting responsibilty for the consequences.

I've never caugh a virus/malware on any of my machines, neither macOS nor Windows because I'm paranoid as can be and I never got into the pirated software scene. Other than a modicum of open-source software that I've built from source, everything on my machines is from the App Store, Adobe or SetApp.

  • Blix trying to get other 'Sherlocking' victims to fight Apple in court

Silly thought: Apply for a patent?

As a developer, I do hate that Apple frequently "Sherlocks" indie developers. I do think that, out of goodwill, they should provide fair compensation in such situations, but there are legal issues with that - opening the possibility of future legal action, particularly if the offer of compensation is not accepted (e.g. if Blix says that feature is worth US$1 Trillion).

I do think Apple could offer a technology licensing arrangement without admitting guilt somehow.

Still, even if Apple were to license the technology from Blix, since they don't have a patent or any kind of trade dress, another company could sue them for the same thing the next day; then, the fact that they paid something to Blix could be used against them with that next company.
