It’s what used to be known as a joke. See, back in the day people would make humorous observations about people and events, then relay those observations to others in order to elicit a laugh. 

Back in the day you knew when people were making jokes and humorous observations because they were actually funny and contained humor. See, now thanks to the internet anybody can get on some platform or forum and make inarticulate dumbass comments. Maybe somebody even calls them jokes when they aren't funny. The internet has made it very clear the fact that some people think car crashes are funny. Those people shouldn't quit their day job.

Here's my take:
The Apple AirPods are every bit as much a fashion statement as they are a music device. The branding was established with those primary colored commercials they ran in the days of the iPods. That makes these a hard sell to anyone aware of branding and status symbols. That would include all middle and high school and most college students, who dictate the trends the rest of us follow. Add to that the clunky pairing process for third party bluetooth devices, compared to Apple devices, and you've got an even harder sell. The only demographic I see here is the pathetic narcissist who wants illuminated earbuds that say, "HEY! Look at ME!"

Seems like a decent product at a good price to me.  No need to rant about something just because it wasn't designed in Cupertino.

I made no claims about the device functionality, only its lame gimmick, and how Apple Insider missed the indisputable fact that AirPods are a status symbol, and these are not. And that the name stinks (c'mon, you know we agree on that!). You must be projecting yourself!

And you pre-empitvely insulted anyone who might be interested in these as pathetic and narcissistic.  As the first comment on a thread that likely would have died without any other comments, I can tell from that that you rate your own opinions very highly, while taking a lot of pleasure in judging others indiscriminately for their tastes.  Yeah, I think you project something, but nothing good.
