  • What to expect at Apple's new iPhone 11 event today - and what not to

    Soli said:
iPhone Pro sounds so stupid for a casual mass consumer product. Pro makes sense for Macs and work/media creation devices. It's what makes the iPad so beautiful. It's casual AND a workhorse for industrial/media applications.

All I care about is the date since rumors ruin the surprise.

Also PLEASE a new Apple TV with A12x to welcome Apple Arcade.
    1) Macs are mass produced consumer devices.

    2) Casual is a ridiculously limited view of what a smartphone can do and what it's used for.

    3) I couldn't give a shit what a product is called so long as it has the features I want and need at a price point I find agreeable. They can call it the iPhone Pro Mate S10 Galaxy poop:emoji for all I care.
You missed the point. A car is also mass produced and can be "casual". I can buy a race car and use it to buy groceries and give grandma a ride to the clinic but that's not the point.

1,2,3) You think I didn't think of these arguments beforehand? I did. iPhone "Pro" is still a stupid name for a mass-produced casual device.

Macs and iPads are a whole different story. I can use my Mac as a Facebook machine OR I can use my Mac to edit movies for Disney.
Can't do both with iPhone...... nor would I want to.

Now in 20 years iPhones may be powerful enough to edit Disney movies but it's still an iPhone and it's way too soon to call an iPhone "pro". Sounds stupid.
So, you’re claiming you can edit a movie for Disney on an iPad Pro? Really?

    WHERE did I say this?

    Can you quote me?

We have seen Disney animators use the iPad for character development and animation.

  • Editorial: After taking the premium tier, HomePod will expand in markets Amazon and Google...

Like all Apple products, the HomePod now has knockoffs and most smart speakers and bluetooth speakers are now copying Apples design language. Remember when Amazon Echos were ugly pieces of plastic? Now they've adopted the "ugly toilet paper" design.

Just some of the knockoffs that have appeared since HomePods launch:

  • Apple's 'iPhone 11' event is probably on September 10

They skip 9/11 all the time.

    Most likely 9/10 or 9/12.

  • YouTuber iJustine launches Final Cut Pro X training app for macOS

This is some kind of joke right? I know we're way past April fools this year, but this is a joke??

She's one of the biggest dimwits I've seen on YouTube, and doesn't actually know JACK about tech!

Have you SEEN the anti-Apple nerds and iKnockoff tech Youtubers? iJustine easily knows more about tech than the whole bunch of them combined.

At least iJustine is fun, true to herself and doesn't pretend to know about tech.

  • Fitbit's new financial worries are just its latest in a long line

Just read up on this yesterday. While tech sites are busy typing up the next "Apple is doomed" bait they're ignoring a massive turd in the punchbowl.

Apple Watch sales and user base is WAY up. 75% of Q3 Watch buyers are new.
    VS.
Fitbit. Reported record losses and their latest attempt to knock off Apple Watch has sold less than expected. Fitbit stock plunged to record lows and a drop of 15% while Apple reported GREAT news.
"In its effort to stay competitive, Fitbit has been slashing prices, which resulted in a shrinking of its gross margin, or the profit left after subtracting costs of goods sold, to 34.5% from 39.8%."
    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/31/apple-fitbit-results-show-smartwatch-market-becoming-winner-take-all.html

This has caused Fitbit to lose 82% of it's IPO since 2015. Fitbit is now valued under 1B dollars.

Now, I don't give a F about stock prices but what this shows us is that Fitbit, the company that was supposed to be the knockoff Apple Watch for Android is now a slowly dying company. Yet they are still outselling the next closest competitor. This means android Wear (or whatever flavor of the week name they have) is doing a LOT WORSE.

Fitbits strategy going forward is services. The problem here is that they're competing with a company that has been planting their seeds into services for over a decade and are about to storm the industry with more refined, secure, quality services which have been in the works for years.

    CHECKMATE.
