Apple's 'Mother Nature' sketch was a complete dud, and didn't belong in the iPhone 15 even...
I consider myself an extremely conservative person who doesn't buy into every New Green Deal being thrown at us, but even I didn't think anything ill of the sketch.
I considered it typical Apple, which is really quite positive overall.
I'm beginning to wonder if William Gallagher is a real person, or if it's really just John C. Dvorak in disguise, back to torture the Apple faithful yet again.
William, you blew it. BIG TIME. -
iPhone 15 USB-C will fix some problems, but create issues for most
AppleInsider said:We've even seen cables on Amazon and elsewhere with tiny LED displays that tell you what power level the cable is charging at and whether USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) is supported. But these are expensive options, and really overkill for the vast majority of consumers.
I think it's awesome that tech even exist, and the price isn't bad at all. -
iPhone 15 Pro not enough to boost sales, say analysts
The thing which truly is "dialing down this once-sizzling market dynamism" are all the rumors from the tech media, telling is everything there is to know before a product actually is revealed.
Sure, there was excitement in the past due to the dynamism of Steve Jobs on stage. But in those days, there were better kept secrets. When a new product hit the stage, it was exciting BECAUSE we didn't know every last detail about it. We need to return to that. Get rid of the analysts and leakers. Let us be excited once again. I think that can still happen even in this modern era where everyone has a smartphone. Back in the 1950's, everyone had a 1950's car. Not everyone has such a car today. Just as people still buy new, modern cars today and haven't lost the desire to have one only because cars are everywhere, so is true of the smartphone.

Child safety advocacy group launches campaign against Apple
foregoneconclusion said:Here's the obvious problem for all the people claiming there is some sort of major privacy issue at stake with CSAM scanning in this thread: Apple already scans files uploaded to iCloud for illegal content. That was a part of the user agreement long before 2021. You have to agree to Apple's terms to use the service...so you've already agreed to have your files scanned. The idea that your files residing in iCloud are totally private isn't true at all, just like it isn't true for all the other mainstream cloud services.
However, unlike the other major cloud services Apple has made the bizarre decision to say that CSAM scanning shouldn't be done...despite scanning for other illegal content. -
Child safety advocacy group launches campaign against Apple
Pretty horrible for any group to use children to get what they want. They know people will sympathize only because they say they are doing it to protect the innocents. And while it is true their entire organization exists to protect kids, what they are trying to achieve with Apple will negatively impact most people, for reasons Apple so eloquently stated. And this is why their use of kids in this fight is a below the belt punch. They couldn't care less if what Apple does opens the door to hell itself. They only want what they want "to help kids." Even negative consequences be darned!
With that said, Googling "Heat Initiative" and "Sarah Gardner" yields pretty much nothing. It's like they don't even exist. Looks very shady to me. Not sure why Apple even gave such an invisible and seemingly non-existent organization the time of day. We need Apple Insider to sleuth out more details about this mysterious group that's demanding to remove YOUR privacy protections currently in place.
