Ha ha ha. The headline might as well be “EU lives in LaLaLand.”
Contrary to popular perception, cash and cash-like cards (e.g., debit cards) still rule in many countries. Rollout of contactless payment forms including its advanced forms like ApplePay, especially POS systems, are a work in progress. Germany, shockingly, is still a heavily cash-based economy.The EU will probably stay stuck there for a while. -
