  • Enormous crowds turn out for Apple's second India store

Any time there’s a new Apple Store opening overseas you can always spot the white people from the US that I assume have come help get the store off the ground.

  • Kroger stores start accepting Apple Pay for grocery purchases

Interesting that the US doesn’t even feature on this random list of countries and NFC payments
    https://www.nfcw.com/2020/03/26/366173/table-contactless-payment-transaction-limit-increases-around-the-world/

What is it about USA that means they haven’t adopted the move away from cash like the rest of the world?
Because the US has no limit on contactless payment amounts. If there is no limit would it be would be featured in that list of countries with limits?

    FINALLY! 🙏

Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart are the last major ones I can think of.
Walmart won't do it out of spite since their own payment system imploded. I am getting sick and tired of Lowes not enabling any contactless payment systems, however.
At some point their hand may be forced. Visa and Mastercard mandate contactless card acceptance to be able to accept their cards in Europe and Asia. If they do that here Walmart and the rest of the hold outs won’t have a choice.

  • 'Max' streaming service combines HBO Max & Discovery+, launches May 23

    Marvin said:
"We want [Max] to be welcoming to all and easily recognizable, including to a key customer segment, kids and families,” JB Perrette, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery’s global streaming and games, said at the event. “We all love HBO. And it’s a brand that has been built over five decades to be the edgy, groundbreaking trendsetter in entertainment for adults. But it’s not exactly where parents would most eagerly drop off their kids.”
This is incredibly ironic because before all this merger bullshit with AT&T and then Discovery, HBO had a really strong kids and family programming department. Hell during the cable TV heydays HBO had an HBO Family channel that only aired family friendly content.

Speaking of HBO throwbacks and family friendliness, anyone remember when the main HBO channel would only play movies rated PG-13 or below before 8pm? Once they got all the sub channels they would play whatever, whenever, but they held out to that rule for the main channel for themselves up until I stopped regularly watching linear cable TV about 15 years ago. It seems so quaint now when any 7 year old can hop on YouTube and pull up that scene from The Wire where they have an entire 3 minute conversation saying nothing but “fuck”.

  • Govee Smart LED H6159 strip lights review: Colorful and effective

I understand everybody likes a freebie and you have to actually post the review to keep the item, but it continues to baffle me that this website publishes reviews for products that are not compatible with the Apple ecosystem.
