  • Apple promises changes in Final Cut Pro after video editor complaints

As someone who still uses Aperture - I wish the FCPX community good luck.  It's like hoping Google will care about anything other than advertisers.

  • EU law will force Apple to blow open its entire hardware and software stack

Our antiquated electoral college was created to allow slave states to have a voice while at least recently, the majority of US citizens have had to settle for a president elected my a minority of voters.
How breathtakingly ignorant.  The electoral college was created to prevent the tyranny of the majority and provide the greatest and most equal representation as possible without letting states with large populations rule the roost by default.  I know, how inconvenient that you may not just get what you want through might, but might have to compromise or build that pesky consensus.

The founding fathers were well aware of the horrors of pure democracies throughout history - and their countless failures.  The 17th amendment almost succeeded in training people to ignore local elections and focus purely on national elections.  Until the covid lockdowns.  Thank god - the BS going on during covid finally started to wake people out of their apathy - it's something to behold!

  • Compared: Apple Studio Display vs Alogic Clarity Monitor

    Yeah - another 4K monitor.

Sigh.  This is why Apple had to get back into the monitor market - the PC monitor market is largely driven by gamers - who don't WANT anything higher than 1080p because if you go higher than 1080p then you start requiring $2,000+ video cards to maintain decent frame rates.  And probably a CPU upgrade too.   And then more RAM.  And by the time you get done upgrading all of that, your video card probably is due for an upgrade starting the whole treadmill over again.  Far easier to just punt and stay at 1080p and focus on refresh rate instead.

So here we are.  @rob53  is  **SPOT** on - once you have tasted the 5K iMac, it's real hard to go back to the schlock that everyone else is offering.

  • Apple could let you switch active devices in the future just by picking them up

I have a personal iPhone and a work iPhone, and I so wish I could have my Apple Watch just switch to my work iPhone while I'm at work and then back to my personal iPhone while I'm back on personal time. When you get used to just looking at your watch for any notifications its annoying to have to keep grabbing your phone out of your pocket to see what the notification is for especially when you have 2 iPhones in your pocket.
Being able to pair a watch with more than one iPhone for notifications, period, would be amazing for just this kind of scenario too.

  • Apple doubles 'Made in India' iPhone shipments in Q1

Apple’s continual propping up of the communists in China will be a dark stain on Tim Cook’s legacy.  Hopefully they will continue to diversify away from them.  The lockdowns going on in China should be a further wake up call to the foolishness of getting in bed with and relying so totally on unreliable totalitarian dictators.
