iMac ship dates?

I want to establish this thread as the iMac Order Status thread.

<a href="http://www.apple.com/OrderStatus"; target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/OrderStatus</a>;

I was wondering when these things will ship. I ordered my Superdrive model the minute after the Stevenote on the 7th. My status is "Being Assembled."

Please tell me when your beauty ships! I cant wait anymore!

You and me both. I bought mine on the 8th from Macmall. The only thing I've heard is the iMac goes on sale the 21 in retail stores.

OK, I'll play. My order went in officially on 01-08 on the Education Store. I'll let you know when it ships.

    $1299 iMac ships in MARCH!!!

    what's wrong with these people

I ordered my superdrive model on the 11th and my order status is also "being assembled." So does that mean I'll get it in the first wave of shipments, or is "being assembled" something they designate for every pending order?

Alright, I'll play too. I ordered my Supa Dupa Drive g4 iMac from the Apple Store Online/Education.... about three hours after the keynote. I'm especially anxious because if i can get the shipment invoice prior to the end of this month, I can apply for a substantial rebate from my local public utilities.... Energy Star compliance and all.

I think "Energy Star" applies to cathode ray tubes, not the new iMac which uses an LCD. Could be wrong, though.

all pending orders are "being assembled" once they verify that your credit card or apple loan is good....it will stay "being assembled" for a length of time equal to your limits of sanity and then, and only then, when it change over to "being prepped for shipment"...this will cause you great excitment till you find that "being prepped for shipment" also last for 2-3 days before finally changing over to "Shipped"...at that time you call in sick for the next 3 days waiting for the ups man in your pajamas....g

Actually, energy star is a DOE program to cut energy use across a broad range of disciplines. There is an Energy star rating for house and industrial insulation, appliances, really anything with a plug. Monitor and computer compliance is based on the fact that it shuts off or sleeps when not in use.

MacMall just says 'Backordered', which makes sense I guess. They don't have as accurate tracking as Apple store. But I do get doubled RAM

I ordered my low end iMac from the UK Apple store on the 9th. I emailed Apple to confirm the delivery date and got a reply today stating it will be the end of March.

I just called MacMall and at the moment they are expecting to get their first shipment of 600 on, or before, the 31 of Jan.

Yes, and depending on when Apple gets this iMac's invoice to me, I could actually get $400 back on this purchase.

Arbitrary deadlines make me nervous, especially when I skate this close to them!

I don't know if this is new...

Just checking the Apple online store and they are saying that new orders for the top of the line iMac are shipping in 3-5 weeks. So, they must have a back log of orders to fill first.

    800MHz PowerPC G4

    256K L2 cache @ 800 MHz

    256MB SDRAM

    60GB Ultra ATA drive

    10/100BASE-T Ethernet

    56K internal modem

    AirPort ready

    Apple Pro Speakers

New orders shipping in 3-5 weeks

    Hell no.

Seems the date for the new iMacs arriving on these shores has been put back from 1/21 to "some time later that week".

I've heard the week of the 28th is the new date for shipments to arrive at the Apple stores. I'm not sure about resellers, beyond MacMall, who said on or before the 31 the first shipment of 600 will come in. Who knows if they'll be more delays. The problem seems to be shipping and not production.

I really, really, really want to order the $1299 iMac, but an April ship date is major deal-breaker. It boggles the mind. Only Apple can get away with this. If any other company did this, they wouldn't have a single customer.
