  • Apple says the iPhone is a valuable readiness aid in a world impacted by climate change

You do realize that is a huge false equivalency, right?

It's hilarious how AGW believers love to condescendingly shout "science!" at everyone, then use complete ridiculous arguments like this one.

Lets use a slightly more relatable analogy, the weather, which scientists can't reliably predict more than 2 days out. And we're expected to accept that there will be a climate armageddon coming in 60 years? Nope. And on top of that, the models have been wrong over and over.. So, nope again.

  • Apple Pay coming to all 1,850 US Target locations, 7,000 Taco Bell restaurants

This is great, finally. Now maybe Apple Pay has a chance of outdoing the starbucks app in number of transactions.

Hopefully Apple is working on further expansion (after over 4 years....): gas pumps, sit down restaurants, home depot, lowes, walmart, major grocery chains (frustrating that HEB still doesn't take it), websites are few and far between, etc, etc.

The marketing behind apple pay seems to be pretty horrible. Even 4 years later people are still wowed when they seem me use it, yet haven't tried it, and are afraid of security issues (despite of course being incredibly secure).

ffs even the cash app is doing a better job with marketing. 1$ off coffee anywhere.. discounts at chipotle (or other places you can choose).. If I wasn't a fan of Apple and a fan of simplicity (I love Apple Pay) I'd be using the cash app instead.

After 4 years, and beating everyone to the punch in terms of simplicity and security, Apple Pay should be much more dominant.

Once again, another huge miss in the services department.

  • Early render suggests 2019's 'iPhone XI' could have triple-lens rear camera

That's a huge camera bump.  Looks like a tumor
That was my initial impression as well, and a germ-cell tumor to boot.

But I'm guessing that's very close to what the final result will look like, for several reasons:
-the photo-computation ability that comes with an equilateral triangle is probably pretty amazing, and adaptable to different camera orientations (maybe allowing pics taken in landscape to switch to portrait, and visa versa?)
-keeping cameras clustered in the same corner gives people more grip options when taking pics, and no change means no unnecessary learning curve for another orientation
-I don't think it'll look bad irl, especially with the iPhone X, where the camera array is elevated in its own steel-framed case (looks very very nice IMO)

All of the naysayers here reminds me of how nearly everyone mocked the iPhone 4 when it leaked, and it's now lauded as possibly the best designed iPhone ever.

  • Waze celebrates 'Tim Cook Day,' says Apple Maps' botched launch led to success

Ah, it makes so much sense now why google acquired waze. So much cultural continuity between the two with their institutionalized douchiness. Good on them.

That said, more people need to be fired over Apple maps. Apple maps should not still be sending people to the wrong fucking continent when a very simple, generic search is entered (eg when I typed in (“cps”) it sent me to fucking Spain; I live in the US).

The ongoing failure of maps, and most of Apple’s services, in doing even the most basic tasks reliably, is an ongoing slap in the face to Apples customers.

Whatever happened with Siri shortcuts btw? Why does Siri still completely suck, and continue to be completely obnoxious in her repetitive and stagnant “personality”, after 7 gd years in Apple’s hands?

  • Apple assessed Apple TV 'dongle' to goose adoption of new streaming service, report says

The Apple TV in its current iteration is bullshit.

Whats the point of giant storage space and high price if we can’t even download purchased movies onto it ffs. And what’s the point of having a recent-gen A series chip if they’re going to fumble the deployment of gaming?

As an all-in Apple customer, I own 3 of them. But it’s so unnecessary/limited in its current form.

It’s kinda shitty that Apple still leaves huge holes in its ecosystem like this.
