Who on earth would buy into a campaign that would (honestly) say "We'll donate keyboards to kids" at SOME time, an INDEFINITE time, at least FOUR YEARS later? More importantly, who'd create such ridiculously vague marketing ploy?
Actually, I found this Waytools press release dated January 28, 2015, which states:
WayTools is now reviewing applications for grants to be awarded this summer.
THIS SUMMER! Meaning summer of 2015 in case anyone's confused. Not next summer, or summer of 2016-2018, not summer of 20xx, but summer of 2015.
So, who on earth thought TB would go out before GR? Waytools CEO Mark Knighton certainly did.
Nor is there a clause that says after GR. Insisting on such blatantly false conditions (in hindsight, no less) is quite despicable.
edit: bolded some words so there's no room for misrepresentations or misinterpretations
At the launch of TextBlade, WayTools set up a matching donation program, to reach its goal of granting 10,000 TextBlades. As orders for TextBlade swelled from over 70 countries, in less than two days, the entire Keys for Kids mission was fully endowed. York Academy applied for and merited a Keys for Kids grant from WayTools, and this summer every York student's iPad will be equipped with a TextBlade at no cost.
The above excerpts were pulled directly from Waytools web site. Read the words as written Kahuna. 'WayTools set up...' - that is past tense - '...a matching donation program'.
'...this summer every...student...will be equipped...' - there are no ifs ands or buts in that sentence. 'GR' is mentioned nowhere in the statement.
Summer 2015 is ancient history. WayTools said they would fulfill that grant almost 4 years ago. They lied. They are liars. Kahuna is attempting to gaslight readers by claiming that oh, of course there was a very obvious inference that the program would not happen until 'GR' 4+ years later. Kahuna is a liar.
The author of this Appleinsider article was used by Waytools the same way the Macrumors author was used, to review and promote a product that Waytools never intends to release, so Waytools can take more money for more orders from more new victims to fund their 'treg' Ponzi scheme.
Millions of dollars collected from 10,000+ customers? 4+ years. No product shipped. Who has the money? Mark Knighton has the money.
Who on earth would buy into a campaign that would (honestly) say "We'll donate keyboards to kids" at SOME time, an INDEFINITE time, at least FOUR YEARS later?
they swept Keys for Kids under the rug.
Your first statement changed the focus to avoid admitting that no one would expect those TBs to ship before GR (thus it wasn't a lie).
And the second statement is wrong since the Keys for Kids items is still where it has always been.
First, you must be mistaken that you found that on the WayTools web site. Because Ericpeet said WayTools swept it under the rug. Surely he didn't just make that up!
Now, for the rest, yep, they did say they were going to ship a million dollars worth to schools. Yes, they later named a school that was getting them. And yes, they said it would be that summer.
The ONLY thing you can even begin to make a complain about is that they haven't been delivered yet. But since GR hasn't happened yet, you have no basis for saying they aren't going to do it. Nor that that school isn't still going to get them. Once again, you can't stick to actual facts.
But even then, you make an absurdist argument - that GR isn't mentioned. But it doesn't have to be for the following reasons (for starters):
1. What idiot thinks they would send devices out before they were ready for general release? You'd be screaming about that if they sent out devices that were not good enough to schools and then later sent out the really good ones to others!
2. That GR was part of it is obvious when they said "Summer". Because, you see, this was already after the original shipping estimate. Thus they were waiting for what they expected to be a GR date.
Once again, we have exactly one point of complaint - that their shipping estimates have been awful - but the critics make ludicrous arguments on top of that as if the number of attacks is what matters, rather than whether they are valid.
Look at, for example, Kahunas repost above of a Waytools reply on their forum. Do you see any information there that clarifies a general release date? It is the same as every single one of their prior sprinkled updates, buried in a post on a thread on their forum, after Kahuna begs them to post something useful after weeks and weeks of lies about when the next 'official' update will be posted.
Worth pointing out how you fail to maintain your own arguments.
I mean, you make all these posts about me being paid by WayTools. Why? Because you think it sounds good, but you don't have anything to base it on other than you can't stand someone not agreeing with you. But like many who do such things, you trip yourself up when you say:
"after Kahuna begs them to post something useful"
You see, it makes no sense for someone being paid by WT to shill for them to make a PUBLIC STATEMENT saying they aren't posting enough info. But, just like your other made up accusation, you thought it sounded good to say it at the moment without realizing to were countering your other false claim.
This isn't unusual. It is quite common for critics to say at one moment that I always defend WT and then at another time, when I am criticizing WT, they'll say, "Even DBK is criticizing them". But then they go back to saying I ALWAYS defend them.
BTW, I don't beg WT to do anything. I simply point out what the facts are and what I think the proper thing to do is. Hopefully they'll agree with my insightful wisdom!
Now, for the rest, yep, they did say they were going to ship a million dollars worth to schools. Yes, they later named a school that was getting them. And yes, they said it would be that summer.
Right. They said all those things. And they did none of them. Like I said: they are total liars. Thank you for agreeing with me!
The ONLY thing you can even begin to make a complain about is that they haven't been delivered yet.
Are you high? That is the ONLY thing that matters and the ONLY point I have been making throughout this entire thread. So you are ONLY agreeing with me 100% that all of my complaints and criticisms are justified.
But since GR hasn't happened yet, you have no basis for saying they aren't going to do it. Nor that that school isn't still going to get them. Once again, you can't stick to actual facts.
You just stated two points of 100% pure speculation - the antithesis of 'actual facts' - that they are going to do it (future speculation), and that the school will get the keyboards (future speculation) - and then you told me to stick to 'actual facts' as if you had not just wildly speculated? I guess you have been working for so long at this ridiculous Waytools spin job, you have completely lost your mind?
But even then, you make an absurdist argument - that GR isn't mentioned. But it doesn't have to be for the following reasons (for starters):
The only things that are absurd here are Waytools_Support, and you. I mean, really man, read what you just wrote. You are ridiculous.
But its all good. Keep doing what youre doing Mr Kahuna Waytools! The goal here was to demonstrate to Appleinsider readers the most prominent personality traits of the people involved with your operation - unethical, dishonest, passive-aggressive, active-aggressive, gaslighting, blatant lies, paranoid, unconcerned with reputation, criminal mindset, and spin spin spin. You are fulfilling the mission magnificently.
Millions of dollars collected from 10,000+ customers? 4+ years. No product shipped. No keys for kids. Who has the money? Mark Knighton has the money.
WT posted a little earlier today on their forums. Not a lot, but at least it is something and I did tell them we need more:
Dbk - Quick look -
Testing jumps right now, and data from initial testing looks like they’re now about twice as fast.
We think it can be tuned a bit further, but focus first is on full feature-parity with current release.
Above is a sample datapoint, and we’ll finish working through and testing so we’ve got more of the full picture info. With those results, we’ll do a good, in-depth TechTalk write-up.
Thanks. I read that but it is not saying much. I was hoping for something more comprehensive / detailed / with dates. If I am not mistaken except a few posts here and there there has not been an official update since July 2017 and that one was very light on (new) info and details.
I have read most of the posts at WTF, but I have zero sense of WHEN GR will materialize. (Maybe I am naive but I still want to believe it will happen). Some of WT posts touch base in 1 specific thing but never provides a sense of the overall status as a whole.
That fact that they are so far behind after 4 years does not entitle them to avoid dates overall. I guess the opposite is in order: you need to share MORE info and not less.
BTW, how communication has deteriorated dramatically since early 2017 is a big warning light, that has me concerned. From monthly to quarterly to almost nothing. They should be eager to share more info, instead of silence. That is why I started the thread of the "next update post" at WTF. Remember when they said repeatedly: we will share more this weekend, the next week, on and on, until they stopped to provide dates even for the delayed next update ? I think they closed the thread a while ago, but there are another 2 with people requesting updates: "I hear nothing but crickets", and "Waytools: what is the latest info on updates"
People (me included) have been more or less patient so far because how awesome the TB seems its gonna be. Any other small keyboard manufacturer would have disappeared long ago after customers and investors massively pulled their support.
Hope that is not happening with the TB. Weak communication and not a sense of progress (just a few comments here and there) makes people wonder.
Millions of dollars collected from 10,000+ customers? 4+ years. No product shipped. No keys for kids. Who has the money? Mark Knighton has the money.
I think Kahuna knows this better than you. In the Waytools forums, he often asks Waytools for a Tesla. Even if in jest, that shows:
He knows he's doing a service for Waytools (as their propaganda mouthpiece, frontman -- or rather, "Useful Idiot" as defined by Kathleen Bailey.. pls see my previous post).
Despite the constant talk about Apple and Tesla on WT forums, he chooses to ask for a Tesla since it costs a lot more than any Apple products -- because he knows Waytools got the money.
He know that even a moderately equpped Tesla would cost almost $100,000.00. Kahuna apparently thinks they have that to spare, especially since they surpassed that amount in only a few days of preorder.
He also knows that Keys for Kids will never happen. So, gotta tap that!
Waytools will never send him one, mind you (unless they're stupid as well as crazy). But Kahuna's request, even in jest, is quite telling.

Why are you pretending as if you are communicating with people who are the least bit sincere? Read this thread. Observe how they communicate with people here and elsewhere. You are never going to get any straight answers. There is no wondering about any of it, unless you are deeply hypnotized by the spell of their gaslighting campaign. There will be no keyboard. There will be no 'general release'. Appleinsider should not have endorsed or promoted such certainty about the fulfillment of orders when all evidence is to the contrary.

LOL, if that was the only point you were trying to make you wouldn't have added those other things! So, nope, not agreeing with you.

Go ahead, show the speculation. You can't do it because what I actually said was that you have no basis for YOUR speculation that they aren't going to do it. Which is why it is a lie to claim I agree with you 100% (or anything close to it).
I mean, really man, read what you just wrote. You are ridiculous.
I did. And what you wrote which, interestingly, doesn't actually show anything ridiculous about what I wrote. You simply say it anyway. Which pretty much describes all your claims.
Well, that's a pretty big list for someone who claim the ONLY thing that matters and the ONLY point you've been making, is that they didn't ship yet.
I have read most of the posts at WTF, but I have zero sense of WHEN GR will materialize. (Maybe I am naive but I still want to believe it will happen). Some of WT posts touch base in 1 specific thing but never provides a sense of the overall status as a whole.

True, it isn't saying much and I pointed that out to them. None of us know when it may ship. I'm less bothered by that than the lack of updates though, simply because I know enough about the TB to understand that they may feel it isn't ready, no matter how I personally feel about it. Problems can be out of their control, but updates are far less subject to that.
And yes, I remember the comments they made about the next update - in that thread, I documented each of those statements, when they were made, and the fact that none of them happened. They acknowledged I was correct. No idea why the same problem exists anyway.

Wow! You have reached rock bottom - and are starting to dig!
Now a joke suddenly shows I'm just serving WT (as opposed to my many criticisms of them which were not jokes).
And I joke about getting a Tesla because I somehow know they have the money! Which only makes sense if I think they may actually give me one - which would mean I wasn't joking. So he'd be wrong anyway. But I was joking. I don't expect to get a Tesla. For one thing, considering where I live, I would need a heck of a long extension cord!
BTW, you might want to double check Tesla prices. They start well under $40,000.
And exactly how would I know that keys for kids will never happen? You see, that is your problem. You assume so many things you don't have any knowledge about.
However, I want to encourage Mark to go ahead and send me a Tesla - have to be a top of the line model to have a shot at that $100,000 mark - but not for me. Just so you can finally honestly claim to be right about an assumption.
Kahuna wrote: I joke about getting a Tesla because I somehow know they have the money!
There you go agreeing with me again. You are correct Kahuna. As I've been saying all along:
Millions of dollars collected from 10,000+ customers? 4+ years. No product shipped. No keys for kids. Who has the money? Mark Knighton has the money.
You need to keep track of context better. My statement was a sarcastic response EP's silly comment. Try to keep up.
Basically you're agreeing with me sub-consciously. It's like a cry for help. The good Kahuna is buried deep down beneath the cynical Waytools shill exterior, and he is struggling to surface.

Well, as long as you are making stuff up, I guess you might as well go with the psychological claims too. It is a favorite of a number of the critics as they accuse Treg members of suffering from "Stockholm syndrome". You know, anything to avoid making rational arguments.
