Intriguing and worth trying in a store. I can tell how it would work for me, as I require corrective lenses.
Those magnetic lenses were really cool, imo.
Yep. Bet a custom set is at least $500. Meaning I’ll have no way to try it out.

At this point my reaction is…a good first start. I’m unlikely to be a customer until some iterations a few years down the road.

Yes, but the keynote used the word so many times I lost count. Maybe that’s what they meant.

This is terrifying! Bad enough parents neglect their kids staring at their phone all day. This is next level bad. Next generation is going to be even more screwed up.

Looks horrible. Total bill gates need level. Non even resembles apple design. Wastes battery with the outside screen.

And you wear the thing from your head to your waist? Serious?

Looks like it was meant to be glasses but apple wanted to rush it out before the glasses could be feasible.

Looks like a solution looking for a problem.

Actually could be a problem. !!!!!  that this product is announced right after Sumbul Dasani addresses the problems of having a screen too close to your eyes - and this thing puts the screen less than an inch away.

Not compelling. But a fun toy.

At least they got a Jony Ive soundalike to talk about the “design.” LOL

Iger talking up these amazing new experiences that are just vague ideas, but ending with the reality: “oh. Um. Disney plus.” Pretty sad. So far, not really different use cases than other devices.
Essh! Lambasting the entire concept before the reveal video is even complete and before you've even used one.

As for the sentence I've underlined, those other devices aren't adjusting their screens for he closeness of the display, whereas the Apple Vision Pro is designed knowing exactly how far away it is to the user in a physical sense and is designed to trick the brain into thinking objects are much further away. There is a massive difference—it's not subtle.

That's a very impressive AR experience and yet I still don't foresee a need for it. I do hope that changes before launch.

I can see people who tend to watch video content alone getting that over a giant OLED TV, so that should be a large enough market in and of itself.

So it's even more expensive than the rumors and it is kind of clunky-looking.

It's not, however, another VR headset like others are already selling. It's an immersive, high-end computing system, plus an immersive, high-end entertainment system.

The people who can buy such things will dive in now. For the rest of us, just figure what three to five years of refinement did to the Apple Watch or iPhone, and you'll see the potential for a smaller, more refined device with currently unimagined features, and probably a lower price. So we'll see what happens with it.

This is a VERY Apple device. Those saying otherwise are just being willfully contrary. Everything about it screams Apple - both inside and out.

That being said, it's not for me - I seem to have a limit on how much tech interaction I can handle. I couldn't even manage to wear an Apple watch for more than a couple weeks before I put it on my dresser and forgot about it.

Could be a great replacement for a large screen TV. No glare. Great for small apartments.

Seeing the 3D scanning of your face makes me wonder when 3D scanning apps using the front cameras/LiDAR will come out allowing scanning of “things” imported into 3D CAD systems. High quality handheld scanners are expensive.
Uh, would be interesting to see how you share that 'large screen tv' with others :-)

It does not seem like a very Apple-y product, but that's not unexpected either. It's a first gen, and according to reports was intended for developers anyway. Three years out they may have something. At the moment it seems like it was pushed out to the retail market before it's fully hatched, and I'm not sure why altho I could guess there's some other nearly-finished products from potential competitors coming before the year is out.

No doubt some regular users here will rush to buy a Vision Pro anyway; after all, it's from Apple. By the time it's fully developed in gen 3 I would expect it to be half to a third of the current price. That's when it may capture my interest.  Or not.
Well, it just saved me from buying more monitors, so it's pretty cheap.  3D camera capability looks fun.

Meanwhile, Google and Meta are furiously working back at the drawing board...  Another Oh shi! moment for those guys, just like with iPhone and Apple Watch.

And I thought $3000 would have been a galling amount for this. But Apple managed to supersize even that. The vignettes of interaction with family is just creepy. In a work / lab environment this would be more palatable. So, for business this can be a success but I wouldn’t want to see this being a tremendous consumer success. FFS we’re already so disconnected/disassociated- the EyeSight feature does not fix this - oh, and the synthesized persona for FaceTime? Impressive (and I understand they needed a solution for that problem) but that’s super creepy, too. I don’t think you solve that problem until you use your phone with continuity camera (like for Apple TV - very cool) and this headset becomes more like sunglasses (maybe this never happens)

I agree, and you're right on the 3D scamming, but as for the small apartments, most though not all, small apartment people outside of big cities can't afford a big apartment, let alone a $3,500 headset.  Now, I guess if that someone was replacing their Macbook Pro and a quality display with this, it could be financed, but just as a way of watching TV... that's going to be a hard sell, especially when $3,500 would buy you a high-end 85" TV with a sound bar that the entire family can enjoy. My wife and I and in a small two-bedroom, and I could justify two Quest 2, bought via ebay so we could use it to workout and play games together, but now we would be talking about $7,000, which is a HUGE when considering saving for a house, car, education, etc.

It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out because, at this point, I am honestly thinking that Apple has lost touch with reality and Tim and Company are hanging out with too many "middle-class millionaires." to understand that $3,500 isn't just a lot for a headset it's a ton when compared to Meta Quest, who is going to see a HUGE boost from the masses from this.  Yes, Vision Pro is on a whole other level, but the masses will use this for gaming, tv, and live chat... non of which Vision Pro is focused on.
