When Zimmer finally retires as Yankee bench coach Little is a lock for the job. Zimmer blew up the '78 BoSox team. Now Little has done his part with this Red Sox team. The Yankees will take Little to their hearts in a New York minute.
never underestimate a manager's unwarranted trust and confidence in the team's superstar or number one starter.
to be honest, i would leave pedro in too. he's a big game pitcher, he's been in situations like that countless times, sometimes he'll come through, others he wont.
he was on fumes but if he makes the change and the next guy gives up a hit all your opinions would be different.
He had already shown his "unwarranted trust and confidence" in leaving Pedro in in the 7th inning. Pedro is a big time pitcher, but he's human. This is not college ball. Pedro had been getting hit the last couple innings and he narrowly escaped the 7th. And I disagree with you about our opinions changing. At least mine wouldn't change. Had Little taken Pedro out after Jeter's double and had the bullpen choked, at least the logical move was made based on logic, odds and Pedro's OBVIOUS tiredness. HUge blunder and from what I've been reading online, most baseball people agree that Little ****ed up big time.
Applenut, you owe Little a X-mas card.
Yeah, the Sox had a great season, and they have a great team. In my estimation they were the better team. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, Torre is twice the manager Little is.
I hope it's a good series. No dislike for the Yanks, but I have always loved Pudge and hope he gets his WS ring.
I disagree. The Marlins play with no pressure at all. THey are fun to watch. I do hope they win it all. I agree this series is small consolation for a Cubs/Red Sox series which would have been awesome if not just for the "curse" factor.
while it might be a crappy matchup, it's not the worst. that title goes to the subway series of a few years ago--one of the most forgettable world series, of my generation at least. no one outside of NY cared.

oh, and i hate the yankees. may they rot in hell.
that is all...for now.
there exists something outside of NY?
subway series ruled. sorry it sucked because your teams sucked more and couldn't get there.

Zimmer will retire in a little over a week.

Marlins are toast. Worst world series ever.
The Marlins are not toast. How many people said that when they were down 1-3 to the Cubs after four games with Prior and Wood yet to pitch? Yeesh.

Respect is earned. It isn't just handed out to any jackass that demands it.
