i just like to refer to it as a choke. kinda like what the astros do every season. damn, being a fan of my teams has taken a dozen years off my life--add to that being an aggie fan, and my blood pressure is that of a 50 year old. i guess it could be worse--i could be a bosox or cub fan...

Forgot to mention...but wow, how nails is Urbina? That guy could stare down anybody. He just looks like an emotionless rock out on the mound. And his deliberate pitching motion/delivery is beautiful as well.

yes, all one of them here.

maybe because i've been out playing ball since the game ended

good game, marlins played great, yankees left too many on, alfonso continues to showcase why he still is not a good hitter despite his numbers, giambi returned to normal (sucking) and we didnt have any clutch hits.

you have to win games where you only give up 3 runs. that simple.

this series is still early. only 1 game. basically means nothing. tomorrow is another day. yankees had won 10 straight world series games at home before tonight, i dont see them losing 2 in a row.

Damn, that's not fair. Cabrera hits a ball off his ankle, but the ump misses it. Instead, it's a double-play. It's stuff like the Lofton catch in the NLDS and the one Grissom catch that make me demand limited use of instant replay. A challenge rule like in the NFL works really well.

the fact that the umpires are only human is as much a part of the game as anything else IMO.

The human aspect is acceptable for close calls, not blown calls. The same goes for the NFL. There are some calls you can't overturn. Only irrefutable evidence to the contrary can overturn calls in the NFL challenge system, so it's not like every close call would get overturned.

Model it right after football. Give the coach a red hanky he can throw twice per game. I saw two plays where the call would have been overturned with replay. You don't get blown calls every game, but Soriano was clearly off the bag when Pierre got called out that one time...and the ball clearly hit Cabrera's shin in that double-play later in the game.

The minute a blown call changes the outcome of a major baseball game, you can bet replay will be implemented soon after.

Because now they have the NFL as a precedent...the same NFL that kills the MLB in popularity in every way imaginable.

they have had the NFL as precedent for a while now.

and the NFL doesn't kill the MLB in popularity because of replay. I think it might have something to do with a thing called gambling.

    Just 4 years, actually.

And the NFL is popular because the people in charge know how to present the product to the fans. There aren't very many NFL teams that don't draw to sell-out crowds of 50,000+ every game. The Raiders are one of them. Heh.

    8 home games a year

biggest and most popular form of gambling.

not that difficult and completely unrelated to baseball attendance figures and popularity.

Once again, the World Series games sink back to near record lows for viewers as I heard on the radio that Game 2 last night only scored one rating point higher than the record low ratings of the 2002 World Series.

After record breaking League Championship Series, it seems few care about the actualy World Series. Not good for baseball. They need to consider having the games on earlier in the day. World Series games at later than 8:00 on weekends are ridiculous. 7:00 starts on weekdays would be better as well.

The other thing MLB has to do is get as far away from FOX as possible. Their commentators make the games unwatchable.

FOX sucks so bad the Hoover corporation is jealous.

But theres a whole nother coast to think of. Remember those 4pm EST games? Those start at 1pm on the west coast, now how do baseball fans who have to work catch the game?

What about the 8 PM games that were on the West Coast, meaning people on the East Coast had to be up at 11 PM for the 'first pitch' (which was closer to 11:15 then 11) and what about the people who had to stay up until 2 or 3 AM with work the next day because of the start times over there? It works both ways.

Plus, the games are on the east coast, and I'm saying that they should have Weekend games at 1 PM, and Weeknight games earlier than 8 PM. Seriously, people on the West Coast are *still* going to be missing the part of the games if they come on at 5 PM Pacific time.

They can change the times of the games too, based on where they are playing. Heck, most World Series used to be during the *day*. That means people had to work, go to school, etc. But last night's game was still one of the *lowest rated ever* and last year's World series *was* the lowest rated ever.

Obviously something is wrong and needs to be changed.
