I like the poll at the bottom.

    your point?

I also like the National Rankings list on the right side. How's your school compare? I'd say pretty poorly.

It's too bad we couldn't put you guys up against at least #3

    Let's see!

In the sports we both field teams in:

    Football

    BCS:

    Texas: 4

    Cal: 5

    AP:

    Texas: 6

    Cal: 4

    Coaches:

    Texas: 5

    Cal: 4

    Swimming

    Texas: 8

    Cal: 6

    W Swimming\t

    Texas: 4

Cal: 7 (tie with Texas A&M)

    W Volleyball \t

    Texas: 10

    Cal: 17

    W Soccer \t

    Texas: 16

    Cal: Not ranked (receiving votes)

    M Golf

    Texas: 4

    Cal: 1

I don't know why UC's site says #19, you guys won the 2004 national championship. Maybe you lost some people or something. I'll give you #1, though.

    You were saying something?

As far as other sports (that matter) in which we both field teams:

    Men's Basketball:

    Texas: 12

California: Not ranked (not receiving votes)

    Women's Basketball:

    Texas: 4

California: Not ranked (not receiving votes)

    Baseball:

    Texas: 2

California: Not ranked (not receiving votes)

Yeah... I don't know... seems like UT is pretty far behind.

They're crybabies because they put up a poll on their website? Gimme a break, dude. What else are they going to poll? What else do fans want to see? You see crybabies and we see a guy pulling out all the stops to personally justify his team's trip to the Rose Bowl.

Yeah, sanitize it by not mentioning what the poll is.

That and Aaron Rodgers on Jim Rome's show saying "I'm over not getting the BCS bid" then spending the rest of the show bitching about bullshit conspiracy (he heard that Mack was calling all kinds of people on the east coast (repeated here without any kind of source)) and once again called him "classless".

It's too bad you guys aren't playing a good team or else you might start getting worried about where your QB's focus is going into the bowl game. But Tech isn't hard to beat.

If they don't put polls on their website they get put on probation by the NCAA, true story.

Certainly nothing about the Holiday Bowl or their upcoming opponent. That's kind of the point of my argument.

What has Mack said recently in an attempt to justify anything?

Because I've seen LA times editorials about how Californians should treat Texas fans "like illegal immigrants".

It's pretty damned funny, to be honest.

4 coaches have made their votes public. Tedford is one of them, guess where he put Texas!

What's funny is how unaware you are of your own lameness. Notice how this thread was dormant for 3 days before you came in here to pat yourself on the back?

I'd love an explanation. Why *did* you dig it back up, and why couldn't you find something better to do it with? A poll put up by a web jockey means their crybabies? Gimme a Kit Kat, dude.

    1) The poll likely wasn't even done up by a Cal webmaster, but by a random collegesports.com admin.

    2) The poll has been spammed at this point, and the Holiday Bowl is leading with 51%+. I wonder where all those votes came from?

There's not much "digging" when a thread is still 5th or 6th on the AO list.

    front page != "digging"

If posting in the #6 thread on a list is an indicator of an unhealthy or awkward obsession then perhaps simply posting on a message board at all should be called in to question.

I brought it back up because it is funny how bitter Cal is. I think it is hilarious. They've been heaping scorn on UT ever since and it is way past normal mourning period.

We've still got Cal fans coming over to Longhorn message boards I frequent talking about how Mack Brown "intimidated" (this is a common word, even used here, maybe you guys have talking points I don't know about) AP voters and coaches. For Christ's sake Cal spent $500,000 on UC-B/Michigan Rose Bowl t-shirts, ended up selling them for $5 bucks and I've read a lot of people saying they are still going to the Rose and they are going to wear those shirts. What the hell is that?

If Cal wants to be hostile I'll play along.

This is obviously going to be something we hear about for years and years as Cal fans know they are a perennial also-ran in football.

And that's what is fun about college sports; having rivals. You can bet your ass if Cal ever plays Texas in the future it will be a fun game with screaming fans and lots of bad blood.

But hey, feel good, you guys are going to back-to-back bowls for the first time in well over a decade! WOO-HOO! GO BEARS!

I have a hard time believing that no one in the UCal

Horn fans laughing their asses off that such a crybaby poll would be on the front page of your official athletic website. I threw in my one vote for the Holiday.

    The poll is down. haha

A few are bitter at this point, but I'm more annoyed at your persistence. You're talking about how Cal fans are prolonging the mourning, yet you were the one who brought it up again. And you still haven't explained how an innocent poll defines Cal's athletics department as a bunch of crybabies.

I think the only clarification here is that you really are a sore winner and a lemur.

Now we just have to wait another few days before you dredge up this thread again.

P.S. The poll is closed, not down. They made no effort to hide the results.

Because Cal fans are crying "conspiracy!" like Mark Mangino you guys deserve some ribbing. The fact that you can't take it is not surprising, but that's how college football fandom works.

Maybe rowing or women's wrestling rivalries are different in tone, but this is how it is done in NCAA football circles. This kind of "my college's city is in every history textbook, it is the most important place ever!" and "Mack Brown and George Bush conspired to steal votes from the Bears!" bullshit will get you all the hell you can eat and deservedly so.

Welcome to the game, maybe if your badass #1 best-in-everything (or not even close) university can string together an AMAZING 3 bowls in a row you will have learned a little more about how it works.

Texas has gotten a lot of shit for being in the Rose Bowl. If your people want to act like we don't belong there we get to call you out for the whining children you are.

I didn't mention US History textbooks to prop up Cal, but to highlight your complete lack of general knowledge. Forget it.
