Texans are apparently idiots then. Since the fact that the Bay Area is no where near SoCal is pretty much common knowledge.

Also, it raises the question of whether you ever watched a Cal game this year. Apparently not.

Don't be jealous because you're a fat lazy bastard in a shitty location by the way.

It is pretty revealing you had no freaking idea where Berkeley is. I mean, come on, the hotbed of activism, Telegraph, the #1 public university year after year, the fact that its big game is against Stanford.

Nobody asked you to pinpoint Berkeley on a SFBA map, but I think it's a safe assumption most people here know Berkeley is somewhat close to San Francisco. (excluding damned furriners and the occasional 11 year old member.)

I ignored the So. Cal comment since I figured it would just degrade to this. I figured I'd give the benefit of the doubt.

Not that I wasn't thinking the same things though.

Maybe to outsiders all of California is the same, but to us the difference between Northern and Southern California is major. And for an outside perspective, my Canadian friends would certainly back me up.

as shown above (and what you fail to respond to because you can't) you are very far from owning us and our athletic department blows the shit out of yours. Nevermind the academic aspect.

    UW = safety school

Bitter bitter bitter Cal fans. Angry about the Holiday bowl lashing out about geography.

I watched the USC and USM games and oddly enough they didn't do a geographical breakdown of California cities and educate everyone about how sandy Californian vaginas get if you mix up "south" and "central" and "northern".

I like Austin. I also like not having serious emotional problems. Good luck with that.

I guess the last part of the sentence means you're joking, right? Is that really supposed to mean something? Pretend you aren't someone from California for a second and ask yourself if that means something.

Horn fans are arrogant, but we're not arrogant enough to think it should be common sense that Austin is in "central Texas" and not "southern" or "eastern" Texas.

I mean, applenut is always a hair's breadth away from devolving into a screaming infant, but be reasonable Eugene.

I swear to god if you say Dallas is "east" Texas instead of "north" Texas I WILL RAPE ALL OF YOUR MOTHERS!!!!!

    Johnson v. California, 9th Circuit, 2002:

Also, Hispanic inmates from Northern California and Hispanic inmates from Southern California are not housed together because, in the administrators' experience, they tend to be at odds with one another.

How ironic is it that I would run across that right after watching an epic California directional geography blowup?

Considering the theme of this message board, I think it's unreasonable ignorance if you don't know Stanford is around Silicon Valley, or did you not know where that is either? I also think it's unreasonable ignorance if you don't know Berkeley is somewhat close to SF. Come on, it figures greatly in most US History textbooks.

I know exactly where Stanford is and where Silicon Valley is, but what does that have to do with Berkeley?

You assume that a rivalry will imply to everyone a certain geographical location. UT's main rival (OU) is from a different state. Our secondary rival is in state, do you know where A&M is located with regard to UT? If you don't immediately then you are a complete fucking retard and I bet you eat your own shit because you are too fucking stupid to know any better. How about Charlottesville and Blacksburg, VA? Auburn and Birmingham, Alabama? Hell, even Gainesville and Tallahasse, Florida? How does that poop taste Retard McFuckwit? That's reasonable, right?

How in God's name does Berkely figure "greatly in most US History textbooks." And past that, when would the directional internal Californian geography be a factor in that great historical influence?

Do you genuinely not understand how astoundingly unreasonable your provincial arrogance is?

If you think that is reasonable then I guess you and applenut can keep your belief that I am retarded (even though I just finished explaining the BCS to him, but the ignorant stereotypes of the emotionally disturbed automatically reject all conflicting evidence, it is how they stay alive).

Sorry to say it Grove, but this was truly a brain fart on your part, and you're just digging yourself in deeper.

There was this little thing in the 1960's called the student protest movement, that was born in and centered around Berkeley. There is no way you could find a decent history book covering 1960s America that would not mention this.

Six years in the making and with a cast of thousands, Berkeley in the Sixties recaptures the exhilaration and turmoil of the unprecedented student protests that shaped a generation and changed the course of America. It is considered by many the best filmic treatment of the 1960s yet made.

FFS, didn't you at least see The Graduate ??

I remember The Graduate making a big deal about Berkeley being in NORTHERN California. Vital to the plot. I remember Dustin Hoffman going apeshit and beating the hell out of a hobo who said it was in SOUTHERN California. Legendary beatdown, how could I have forgotten?

You people are acting like I had never heard of Berkeley, which is just stupid, of course I have. I just got mixed up on the directional geography. Whoop-de-fucking-do.

I know of the city, I know the general in California, I just didn't realize where the line of demarcation was drawn in Californian reckoning (or how vital it was to the health of the world).

applenut has mental problems and made a big deal of it. Eugene delights in being a know-it-all prick (something we have in common).

I was wrong about the directional geographic label of a city. Please God someone mercy kill me so I may not infect the world with my ignorance

Is San Francisco in northern California or southern California?

If you knew Berkeley was in the SF Bay area, you couldn't have made your mistake. It's not about where SoCal begins and ends, but being able to put a fingertip on San Francisco when someone tells you to locate Berkeley on a California or US map.

It's not like we're expecting you to know where Princeton is in NJ or where Carnegie-Mellon is in PA.

Why? Because apparently I am dumber than the average 11-year-old American.

Tedford and Pac-10 want college coach votes made public.

    Quote:

"It's something we need to know," said Tedford, who signed a five-year contract extension Monday. "One of the worst things that could happen is the votes being kept secret. If we had it to do all over again, I would hope that we'd make them public."

    ...

"Those votes should be called out," Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen said in a phone interview. "We ought to know who did that, because that's wrong."

    ...

The AFCA asked its 117 Division I-A members in February if it wanted to make the votes public and they overwhelmingly voted against it.

The 61 coaches participating this season were asked again about a month ago if they would be willing to have the final ballot made public, and it was voted down again.
