    The dissing begins. <img src="embarrassed.gif" border="0">

Actually, now that the "pro" stuff has been upgraded all around, look for "consumer" upgrading as early as next week as a good guess. First things first.

Wasn't the 23" Cinema HD a LOT more expensive before? Can't recall the price.

    It was $3499.

    Aren't the 7457's supposed to have 512k L2? These aren't MPC7457s, I guess.

$1499 for a PowerMac is a good start on dropping prices. And the monitor prices are great!

Edit: great to see they kept 2 Firewire 400 ports and added a third 800 port.

    Fran441,

You were wrong about why the maintenance page was up, so who's to say. Why so negative?

Is it just me or are those some massive price cuts? Anybody remember the old prices?

    On a side note...

They've got to pack in the new iApps with the iMacs don't they?

I wouldn't be too surprised if new iBooks and iMacs were released within the next two weeks.

Eh, Apple's edu prices are a joke. Only a $50 break on the single GHz? They couldn't even make it $100?

Actually, I'm trying to prevent negativity later.

If everyone was to say, "We're getting new iMacs next week!" and it doesn't happen, there's going to be much more negativity on the boards. Look at in this thread, for example; there's disappointment that Apple didn't update the iMacs because people were expecting it.

    We'll see what happens.

Does anybody know if these Powermacs have the 7457 in them? I would assume they would have to but I can find nothing to back it up. Anyone?

I think the old price points were $1699, $2499, $3299.

Eh...not to rain on the parade, but the 1499$ PM is actually a downgrade! The low-end PM used to have dual 867 MHz processors. However, all is made up for by the awsome dual 1.25 GHz at only 1999$ !!!

Apple today introduced the 20-inch Apple Cinema Display, a wide-format active-matrix LCD with 1680x1050 pixel resolution for $1,300. Apple says it provides more work area than Apple's previous 22-inch Cinema Display. Apple also dramatically reduced the price of its 23-inch Cinema HD Display, with 1920x1200 pixel resolution from $3,500 to $2,000 and also reduced the price of its 17-inch Studio Display, providing 1280x1024 pixels, from $1000 to $700
