Apple won't license Masimo's patents despite Apple Watch import ban
People need to understand the patent trial ended in a hung jury because only one person voted against Apple. It needed to be unanimous. I believe the jury voted something like 5-1 in Apple!s favor so the vast majority of jurists understood Apple didn’t use Masimo patents. None of us were on that jury so we need to stop ragging on Apple. -
UK could secretly block security worldwide, says Apple
Apple might need to talk to stock holders to see if they can get backing to tell the UK and EU to take a hike. This could include not selling to the UK or EU. Yes, Apple would take a hit but these governments who want to abuse American products might need to discuss with their citizens the potential for Apple to not provide any products. Who will win? Their citizens or their government? -
Apple Maps 'closed' mistake costs restaurant thousands
I've submitted incorrect Maps locations but haven't done anything with businesses. It wouldn't surprise me if an angry customer submitted the information just to get back at the restaurant. I don't know who actually provides the information about businesses to Apple Maps but I notice that not all businesses are listed on Apple Maps so it doesn't really surprise me if a few businesses have been marked incorrectly. It's just like address locations, they aren't always correct while some are nowhere near where they are supposed to be. There needs to be a disclaimer on all mapping software and apps stating that "Information is not always current or correct. Use at your own risk." -
Apple Watch blood oxygen feature helps doctor save air passenger's life
quakerotis said:It's not Apple's, it's Masimo's.
Do airlines carry pulse oximeters on-board? Probably not. Do people carry their own pulse oximeters wherever they go? Probably not. Was the woman's life saved because she had a pulse oximeter on her watch, which provided enough information that the cabin crew knew to give her oxygen? Absolutely! Do we credit this to Masimo? Absolutely not!

Apple prepares to enable sideloading and App Store changes in EU
Alex_V said:rob53 said:Good luck Europe. Prepare to be controlled by your government requiring loading of government-sponsored malware tracking your every movement without any need for a warrant. The first third-party app storefront will be controlled by your local police force, requiring every citizen to load government specific software. In many cases you won't even know they're loading monitoring software, you'll be required to load a government app that includes voter ID, driver's license, etc. Everything in one app will be presented as software everyone needs for taxes and every other government process. Guess what's going to also be loaded in the background .... yep, monitoring software so they know where you're at and what you're doing. Have fun!!avon b7 said:tech_traveller said:
