  • Husband buries wife alive, smashes Apple Watch to stop her calling for help

You'll take my Apple Watch when you pry it from my cold, dead wrist. From my cold. dead. wrist.
    Apparently, that can be arranged.

How do I use any of these programs to draw a family tree instead of using commercial genealogy program?
I would recommend Keynote. Insert a text box for each person, and connect that with angled connection lines. Export to pdf or jpeg or whatever you prefer.

Keynote is basically a page layout program. All of the iWork apps are good at page layout.
    Can Numbers do it?
Yes! It's as capable as Pages or Keynote.
You can connect cells with lines? Can you bend the lines?
Ah, sorry. I missed the detailed example of what you wanted to do — the quote was collapsed.

I’m not sure that particular task is possible in Numbers. To be fair, I’ve never tried to do it in Pages, either.

    I retract my statement.

  • EU finalizes charger rule forcing USB-C on iPhones in 2024

Although I'm expecting Apple to comply, it might be able to escape the requirement if it leased its iPhones instead of selling them to customers in Europe. The actual European legal document seems to be talking about selling devices, not leasing them.
Manufacturers generally do not lease their products. They sell them to financial services (often, but not always, subsidiary companies) that then lease them to customers.

    That counts as a sale.

  • iPhone must use USB-C by 2024, says EU law

Does the new EU law apply only to sold device or does it also apply to leased devices? Maybe Apple could simply lease all new iPhones in the EU to skirt the law.
AFAIK, every device or car that is leased is first sold to the company that's doing the actual leasing.

That may be a subsidiary of the manufacturer, but it's a financial service company that owns the machine.
