Apple not a monopoly but must allow alternate payment methods for apps, judge rules
aderutter said:…I hope that Apple adds a new app-store rule stating that apps that use in-app purchases other than Apple-Pay cannot be free to download.
It’s insane to me to read some comments on this issue. People actually believe they’re entitled to apps on their devices in however way they want them—yet they contributed exactly zero to developing and manufacturing those devices and don’t even legally own any of the system software or apps they have on those devices. -

Talk about a spoiled and entitled attitude… -
App maker seeks $200B from Apple in App Store class action lawsuit
It’s really depressing that developers (and users) have gotten to the point where they believe a creator of a device can have a wrongful ‘monopoly’ over the device they created, as if somehow we are entitled to have that device and that the creator is legally obligated to make it work how we want it to.
I’ve been a developer for 20 years and I very clearly remember when there was no App Store and the only way to get software to users was far more complicated and required far more resources. Apple’s App Store is so easy because of what Apple has created, and we are not entitled to any of it.

Apple reportedly blocks pay equity Slack channel amid rising tensions with employees
Many of these ‘woke’ ideas come from a naive view of the world. Many of us feel so entitled due to the immense successes of Western ideas.
I’d say to let them have at it and then ruin Apple so that they can see for themselves their folly. But the reality is that these ideas have already been tried for many centuries and have failed every single time and people still don’t see. They just don’t want to see, because they’re so in love with their failed ideas that truth is irrelevant to them. It’s like the person who falls in love with someone bad for them and refuses to see the truth of it. -

the whole thing is wrong.“Oh. There’s a new disease. So we must track you. And we need to know your movements as well as those of your contacts.” RIIIIGHT… that’s going to end well…
Forget HIPAA. Forget privacy. Not to mention potential abuse of something like this. This kind of thing did not happen with HIV/AIDS, note the flu, nor pneumonia, nor anything. All of a sudden, a née deadly disease is out and we are supposed to happily forget our humanity so that people who tell us a different story every day can monitor us like lab rats.No thanks.
I’m no fan of Trump, but fortunately I didn’t allow myself to reach the stage of hating him so much that my own sensibility went out the window.
