  • National emergency alert test will affect all U.S. iPhones on Wednesday

These are not just for nuclear attack.  Could be zombie infestations or other nationwide emergencies.

But for the person who asked what you’re supposed to do if a nuclear missile is headed es your way, hide under your desk?

yes that would probably be a reasonable thing to do.  Preferably in a basement.    It is unlikely that the missile is headed directly for you, and if you are far enough away and with enough barriers between you you’ll probably survive, as long as the house doesn’t fall on you.  Which is why you hide under the desk.
I sure did it when I was a grade-schooler during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also before and after. It was called "Duck and Cover." We also had a nuclear bomb shelter in the basement of the school. Funny how we're much more likely to see a nuclear attack now than in those days, but everyone has abandoned the idea of trying to survive one. Not sure I'd want to live in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, since I'm so old, but if I was 30 or so, I'd be building a bomb shelter in the backyard, stocking up on MRE's and AR-15's (with CMC full auto Triggers) and assorted pistols and shotguns, every tool I could think of. A dirt e-bike, Generac and gasoline generators (and lots of gasoline), a few tons of water, a satellite phone, Ham Radio transceiver & antenna, flashlights and lots of batteries. A few thousand matches, weather gear. I'd install a library and fill it up. After the radiation levels dropped, I'd hop on my e-bike, and head for the secret bunker where the politicians are hiding, pour all that gasoline down their air chute, light a match, because you know for sure they're the ones who caused it to happen, and Karma can be a bitch!

  • Tim Cook makes $41.5 million in his first Apple stock sale since 2021

Maybe he knows something we don't?
Maybe? Maybe??? He knows hundreds of millions of things we don't.

  • National emergency alert test will affect all U.S. iPhones on Wednesday

This has been a test of our National Emergency Alert system. For more information, tune in to CONELRAD at 640 & 1240 on your AM radio dial. If this were an actual event, you would have been instructed to head for the nearest fallout shelter. Most schools, hospitals and many commercial buildings are fully prepared with shelter, air filters, food, plumbing and water for a minimum of one month. If you're still alive.

  • Developers take note: Apple Silicon is required to develop apps for visionOS

Of course they'll drop support for Intel. The VP is revolutionary, and was no doubt mostly developed on Apple Silicon computers, built to take advantage of Apple M-Series processors' unique code. It's also a high-end product, with a price to match. Allowing developers to sell dated or ported apps on the App Store would not be of merit to the Apple Brand. The most valuable brand in the world; by about $500 billion.

  • Spotify head wants UK to show leadership and stop Apple's App Store dominance

Separately, in July 2023, Spotify cut off all subscribers who were paying for the service via the App Store.

Because Apple is the only corporation with monopoly power and thus the opportunity to restrict consumer choice. Got it.
LOL! I won't need an iron(y) supplement today. Thanks!
