iOS 18 & macOS 15 are going to look to the past for new wallpapers
Go back to smaller iPhones, yes, but it will never happen. The mini is dead.
Apple should also go back to the Snow Leopard OS strategy. Instead of bringing out New, Bright, Shiny, and WitSec features, squash and fix all that is wrong with Sonoma. Save New, Bright, Shiny, and WitSec for every other year. -
Apple said to be stealing tech from expensive suppliers to give to cheaper ones
mikethemartian said:I can somewhat understand smaller companies getting suckered but I would expect Samsung and Sony to be smarter than that.
Clearly many people and corporations believe ethics have no place in business. It's true the devil is in the business details. Any company can read a contract. That's why they have lawyers. Making your business succeed or fail because of one customer is asking for trouble.
Apple, like many other corporations didn't get rich by being nice guys, models of ethical behavior. They made it with the help of many business practices being legal, in most cases, and by legal practices some of us would call unethical.
Apple is an 1000 pound gorilla in a corporate world of 800 pound and smaller gorillas. If a person or corporate entity has a reputation for not treating their partners fairly under ethics or laws, as with a notable political figure notorious for not paying bills, then anybody doing business with that person or entity invites a certain level of risk.
I don't give Apple a pass for their shark-tank behavior. But I also blame the victim to some degree when "you knew I was a scorpion when you gave me a ride".
Apple is not a warm and fuzzy company. Business is not warm and fuzzy. You're a company that could catch a huge break getting Apple as a customer. You should know the risks. If you can't negotiate a contract that protects you as much as Apple, then don't sign, or halt and catch fire. -
New HomePod part leak shows off glossy display cover
The display doesn't interest me as mine Gen 1 HPs are on a shelf out of normal foot traffic. Will the new HPs have something that interests me? Not likely. I'm sure there will be cool features, but nothing that will make me pop for new ones.
I'm waiting to throw the switch on an AVPro, so most any other Apple gear will distract me from that goal. -
Apple Watch Series 10 rumored to offer limited blood pressure monitoring

The United States cellular network struggled the morning of February 22
mike1 said:AppleInsider said:In some cases with an iPhone 14 or iPhone 15, users are seeing the SOS notification in the upper-right hand corner of the screen where the signal strength meter normally is. That's an indicator of no cell service, but access to the SOS over Satellite feature.Read on AppleInsider
That SOS indicator has nothing to do with the "Satellite" feature. Shows up on every phone when there is no cell signal.
Not connected to a network, there's still the possibility to make emergency/911 calls. That's why the SOS or SOS Only indicator. With no cell signal there would be no SOS or SOS emergency/911 option, only No Service.
The exception would be an iPhone 14 or 15 with its ability to make satellite calls. Those phones with no network access would also show either SOS or SOS Only, I don't know which. But their satellite function might be viable. With no cell signal, their satellite function could still be viable but no idea if there would be an SOS indicator or No Service indicator as with no network access.
