…some still going to argue it's because Android users change their User Agent?

"Dude, I, like, totally just got this new phone, bra."

"Wicked, man. What's it all do?"

"I dunno, man, but I totally just changed my user agent."

"What does that even meeeeeeeeean?!" "I know, bra!"

Bra? What's this "bra"? Is that like some sort of pectoral mammary support garment? ;)

I find it so stupid when Apple still cannot keep up with demand and this guys are talking about market share, like if it matters or has any meaning. The iOS ecosystem is extending the lead (developers interest, decent apps, music/tvshows/etc), iOS devices are the ones being used, Apple cannot keep with demand on any iProduct.

Android has 0 influence right now (on iOS).

Strange that a stolen product has been altered in such a way that it simply is hardly used.
...selling 250 per hour from 12 am to 8 am Pacific Time."

People stay up all night to do their holiday shopping because iOS is so difficult to use¡

Another piece of data that confirms Android's 'sales' numbers are largely made up.

Everybody talked about this "closed" vs "open" issue between Android and Apple as if they really know a thing about it.

The Gsheeps are so gulliable to buy into all the false marketing and begin to think that the other camp of users are the sheeps.

Android is 'open' if we are talking about the hardware.  But since when is this an advantage?  Buy the wrong Android hardware and you will never get future OS updates.

Just look around, are there even many good alternatives for Android hardware to choose from?  Other than Samsung, is any Android hardware manufacturer making any profit?  If what they manufactured are decent enough, why do they have to sell at cost or at a loss to move their hardware?

The most important and key advantage of an 'open' system is the ability to get 3rd party applications.

Windows won over mac PCs (the last time when Apple was close to bankruptcy) because of 3rd party applications and prices.

If Android is so open, why am I seeing so many Android users begging developers to port the numerous IOS apps to their platform on so many websites?

All mobile device can play video, read ebook, check email and surf the web.  The differentiation in the range of usage and the user experience come from 3rd party Apps.

Android, due to lack of developer's support, is in truth more 'closed' than IOS.  Is this so difficult to understand?

I feel sorry for the Gsheeps.

Seems like several people need to read the story. This is not about the sales of Apple devices.

IMO it's the opposite, you can't let your children just have something because he/she wished for it. Get him/her an android device and make him/her work for an iOS device after he/she showed maturity of handling a (worse) device. That would actually help the children's future.

Yes, that would help the children's future IF your objective is to bring up your kid to think that they should always buy the cheapest garbage they can find without regard to quality, support, longevity, and retained value.

OTOH, if you want to give your kids a REAL lesson, you can teach them discernment and the value of buying a quality product even if it costs a little bit more.

Your first statement ("you can't let your children just have something because he/she wished for it") is silly, too. If your child wants something and you can afford it and it fits with your goals and plans, why not let them have the one they want rather than foisting the cheapest crap on them?

    Bizarre.

Perhaps there is something to this 'shipped vs sold' stuff.

What else could explain such huge 'sales' of Android devices and such a low turnout on the internet?

Or maybe folk buy Android devices just to make phone calls, then zip round the corner and buy an iPad for everything else.

A good analysis of this data (along with ComScore) from Horace Dediu:

Just like the data that shows iPads having 90+% of web traffic. Of course the Fandroids will say that's because they use custom browsers that change their identification but I think that makes up a small percentage of Android users.

I'm beginning to actually hate Android users. The amount of bullshit I have had to correct this week has reached fever pitch. These gullible idiots are deluded and incapable of rational thought.

Due to the lack of grey matter, the likelihood of them succeeding in life is pretty slim, therefore they will have no disposable income.

Yes, they should convert to iOS, or be happier dead! I am going to go pray to Saint Steve, and then rally my serfs to join me on the holy war to liberate Mountain View from the infidel!

In other words: enough already with the religion. These are just gadgets!

    Sorry? How's that?

Apple makes more money from makes than all OEMs from PCs.

    How do you define "wining"?

I don't mean at the present moment. I mean the 'won' at the time when Steve Job returned to Apple and Apple was close to bankruptcy.

There was a time they were close but it didn't take long after the iMac launched for Apple to be a very profitable selling 'PCs'. They weren't top dog in profits like they are now but they weren't bad off. In fact, if not for the success of the iMac the iPod would have likely never seen the light of day which would have kept the iPhone and iPad going as they are. Imagine a word today without the iPhone or iPad (or an Apple); actually, don't, it's too distressing.

What other posts, where, who's lying about that? There are more than a billion Android devices? I seriously doubt that.

In the long run, who knows?

    Once again: WE ALREADY KNOW.

Oh I agree it's daft. My irritation does not come from the gadgets themselves, or my love of one over another. It's the plain lies and bullshit that gets on my nerves.

I can't stand bullshit no matter what the subject.

I don't care if person X wants to buy an Android or likes it for it's few benefits. But when i hear friends lying, I can't help but put them right. Right now I have my work cut out! It's mass delusion on a religious scale.

    Weird.

Almost seems like a purposeful omission…

Perhaps it has something to do with no GLONASS support although it would seem logical to mention that only in Russia, Right?.

GLONASS has full global coverage, just like GPS.

PS: I don't think I knew Sprint had the iPad (4) and iPad mini.

I was shocked to discover that you are right: NO WiFi only iPad has GPS, since the Cellular enabled iPads use the cell towers for the assist. One lives and learns.

That's not the reason that the non-cellular models lack GPS though. Tower-assisted positioning helps to speed up the position lock from cold, but is not required. It appears to be more due to the fact that almost all the mapping software downloads map data on the fly via cellular (unless you have mobile wifi of some kind or you had cached the relevant map data in advance), and so most of the time you would get position data but no map on which to display it.
