I see what you mean now, and I believe that you would have a point if we were talking about a foreign culture and we could have a discussion about that, but I thought that we were talking about Americans rioting? Do they not live in the same country that I do? Do they not go to public schools like I did? Do they not read books like I do? Do they not have access to the same information that I do on the internet?
Anything strange and unfamiliar is considered foreign. Don't make the mistake that because someone is a US citizen they somehow have the same culture as you.
There is no excuse for the thug's behavior.
That's what I define as part of the problem. You label rioting as thug behaviour which I'm only seen you refer to recently as referring to those of "colour" who listen to gangsta rap music. If you mean thug as the general definition of violent person then I agree wholeheartedly that these people are not acting in accordance of what 'I' consider mature and reasonable behaviour.
We'd love to hire you. You are brilliant and fully qualified for the position. The problem is with your skin color. We have exceeded our white quota. We'll let you know when more light skin positions become available. - Apple
And what the **** are "latinos" then? Caucasians who speak Spanish? Half-caucasian, half-indigenous? Or just an artificial classification meant at separating the "elite" anglo-saxon white from the Southern European one?
Now we have the term "white Hispanic" thanks to the media.
No, I never said that racism is not a problem in the USA. I said the discrimination is not a huge issue anymore. If somebody is a minority and they're educated and smart, they can get ahead. There is still racism, and there is also a growing racism, coming mainly from minorities and their leftist supporters. Obama and his racially biased administration has probably set back race relations in the US by decades.
As a minority, discrimination is still an issue whether you see it or not.
That's what I define as part of the problem. You label rioting as thug behaviour which I'm only seen you refer to recently as referring to those of "colour" who listen to gangsta rap music.
Thug is usually associated with rap, as that term is often widely used in that genre.
It doesn't really matter to me what term is assigned to the rioters, and no, not only black people riot of course. There are plenty of stupid and violent white people who also riot for no reasons at all. What about all of those football (soccer) hooligans? These groups are all equally bad and yes, it is uncivilized, no matter what color somebody is.
I know that you often try to assign some sort of racial motive to my posts, but I consider myself to be one of the least racist persons on this forum. I just call things like I see them, and I have no problems with offending anybody, regardless of the perpetrator's color or race.
Also, not that it's a big deal, but why do you write "colour"? I thought that you were American or at least residing in the USA.
White Hispanic is fine. I would just say white for people of European descent who immigrate to the US from south or Central America. But if Hispanic is to be used then white Hispanic is ok.
I know that you often try to assign some sort of racial motive to my posts,
I am not assigning, but merely pointing out things you've said. I even gave you an out with the definition of thug but, to your credit, you didn't take it. Despite my thoughts on your view of those that are different from you I have repeatedly stated that I gave you credit for being upfront with your positions, regardless of how deplorable I think they are.
but I consider myself to be one of the least racist persons on this forum.
I honestly don't see how.
I just call things like I see them, and I have no problems with offending anybody, regardless of the perpetrator's color or race.
I do agree that you're an equal opportunity hate monger.
This AI article headline has got to be false. "Most employees are white men" means that over half the employees are white men. Since only 56% of the US employees are white, it is extremely unlikely that women account for only 6 of the percentage points comprising that 56%. Especially since 30% of the employees are women. Even if there is an extreme bias against white women to the extent that only 1 in four women were white, meaning that 7.5% of the employees were white women, there would still be under 50% of the overall US workforce who were white men. I must conclude that the AI headline is inflammatory and designed as click-bait, rather than to relate either news OR rumor.
I would have no problems hiring somebody who was a minority, if they were truly the best qualified for the particular job. Of course, that particular minority person would not have to own an Android phone, because I may not be racist, but I do discriminate against people when it comes to other areas.
That makes me less racist than Apple and other corporations who pander to real racists like Jesse Jackson.
I think it's like this. If I found out after interviewing two candidates for a position one male and one female that they just married(not to each other). I would automatically assume that the woman would likely be starting a family and I would have to deal with her being out for 3 to 6 months and probably eventually want to work part time or leave altogether. Yes its not fair, but it's probably a risk employers may not want to take.
This assumes men cannot or will not partake equally in child-rearing. Men should be granted "paternity leave" so that they can.
The time has come to put away our prejudice and look beyond race and ethnicity to see the human potential in all people. If Apple has been ignoring applications for positions because of race, ethnicity, gender etc., they should be charged with the crime and be punished. Conversely, if they hire based on those same qualities, does it not stand to reason that they also should be punished for discrimination? The world is one country and mankind its citizens. Get past this idiotic labelling and creation of hyphenated Americans. We are all just people.
The time came and went 40 years ago. Unfortunately many folks did not act when that time arrived.
My city just rioted because of the discrimination that minorities face in this country. Because of the social unrest, a riot was able to break out and people destroyed and looted a town. A riot broke out. A riot broke out. A riot had a chance to break out because of discrimination. I can say it 50 other ways.
Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Racism is at it's worse in the last 20 years, and you'd be naive to assume that discrimination doesn't come hand in hand with it.
Why aren't "white people" (whatever that means) rioting in the streets every time a "white person" (whatever that means) gets murdered in a controversial way? I don't identify with criminals. I don't identify with rioters. I don't identify with people who choose to do stupid things that place themselves and others in harms way. I don't identify with law enforcement. I don't even identify with most "whites" (whatever that means).

People should take responsibility for their own actions and decisions.
You know that's never going to happen again in this day and age. It's far more convenient to blame the other guy than it is to look in the mirror

Asians were forced to build railroads and there was that pesky Chinese Exclusion act and internment camps.
That said, affirmative action is flawed.
Now we have the term "white Hispanic" thanks to the media.

White Hispanic is fine.
White Hispanic sounds pathetic, especially when the liberal racist media was assigning that label to George Zimmerman.
Is Obama White Black? Because that's what he is.
There are no hispanics because there is no "Hispania"
George Lopez

Hispaniola is a geographic location.
Hispaniola is the name of the island shared by Dominican Republic, and Haiti.

Uh.
I am 100% ok with white men making up the majority of Apple employees.
They do not. The headline is wrong.
Yes, a geographic location.
That does go along with the Lopez quote. There was a Hispania but no longer does it exist.
