I watched the "damn video" last night, and was stunned by what I saw. I was never anti-Dean until last night. I don't think you all can see past your pro-Dean bias.
Even the commentators at CNN were stunned, calling it the worst speech since Quayle in 1988.
It was deeply, deeply bad. It's sad you can't see how this plays to the average voter. This is why Dean lost.
I'm not pro-Dean but I felt what I was seeing was a speech to rally the troops, to garner excitement amongst his supporters.
Unfortunately, I also see how it's only being played in short clips on today's news and being laughed at afterwards, which does indeed hurt Dean quite a bit. I also recognize how someone who didn't see it happen live could possibly misconstrue it into an angry loud mouthed rant. I guess you just had to see it when it happened to get a firm grip on what it was...
It would be like zooming in on a group of fans at a rock concert... and showing them going nuts when they start playing the big hit they've all been waiting for.
Out of context it's "those people are nuts!"
Show them 5 minutes before and 5 minutes ader and it's "oh... they're fans at a concert"
Bush squeezes in his visit to MLK's grave in between $2000 a plate fundraisers...
THAT'S offensive.
"Pardon me, can ah stop by and git my photo op in? Rovie thinks it'll do gooder."
Possibly, but what was truly offensive was the blacks that were there protesting him and trying to keep him from visiting the grave. You can dislike his politics, but that was just ridiculous.
If Dean were to present himself more reasonably, his coverage would be more reasonable. He can't get out there and barnstorm angrily, wave his fist in the air red-faced and then expect to not look like a fool in the morning papers.
If Dean were more presentable, his novelty would have never existed. At least his Angry Dean schtick worked from the beginning. We have no idea if he's really having a falling out or if this is just a speed-bump.
OK, finally saw the video. Sure he sounded funny, but he thought so too. It appeared to me that he was just being a little silly, having fun up there, trying of course to keep the spirits up. To me at least, he didn't seem out of his gourd at all.
I see, so because he wanted to appoint a guy to the bench who has been called racist, despite very little evidence supporting it, means he is not allowed to show respect for what Martin Luther King stood for in his life and accomplished for our country?
Comments
YES. He has no shame.
Is drudge journalism? nope.
He's a hitman. A gossip columnist. And a hypocrit.
Can anyone say he DIDN'T go nuts? He was a raving lunatic.
Ever see a coach give a pep talk to fire up his team?
If Dean went nuts then Bush has had a lobotomy.
Watch the damned video. click
It's spirited, yes, but it is totally within the realm of sanity and proper conduct.
He's almost laughing throughout that entire clip Drudge posted.

No, he didn't lose. He was crushed.

This is a politician going overboard. Strom Thurmond - 1948
Yes it is. And your point is?
If you have to dig up Strom Thurmond to make your guy look good, you've got problems.

They were right to protest him showing up. Especially when the next day he appointed Pickering to the bench.
As if they had a collective vision he was going to do that? I fail to see the point.
That was offensive enough not for him to show his face.
You really don't get it do you.
Everything that Bush has done shows how little he cares about civil rights in the US.
