I have ditched Google as my search engine as well. They have gone beyond creepy. Still using Google maps occasionally, but only out of necessity. I will happily drop them as soon as Apple brings Maps to the Mac.

On top of the solar aspect, It sounds like you wind up with a display with built-in, very high-resolution, capacitive AND optical sensors. This could open up entirely new interactions with the device, possibly even "mouse-over" type events.

I would definitely welcome a slightly larger screen, but the form factor as shown in the mockup would be a real step backward in my opinion. The tapered form factor, when lying on a desk, might be OK in portrait orientation but would be very awkw…
